Paarl Royals

 

The Royals beat the Super Kings by 5 wickets at The Wanderers on Wednesday and they remain top of the standings with a record of 5 wins and 1 defeat. JSK posted 168/3 batting first and the Royals chased it down with an over to spare with Lubbe (57) and Vilas (42) doing most of the damage.

 

Their only defeat so far came against MI Cape Town by 8 wickets at Newlands and this is their first clash against the Super Giants with the return coming in Durban on Sunday.

The Super Giants won their first 3 matches of the tournament before suffering back to back defeats. They returned to the winners box on Tuesday with a 36 run victory over MI Cape Town at Newlands. DSG posted 157/6 batting first with opening bat Matthew Breetzke to scoring with 48. The bowlers then did their job and Stoinis and Noor Ahmed both took 3 wickets and ul-Haq bagged 2.

 

At the time of writing DSG were in second spot in the standings with 4 wins and 2 defeats and their total of 18 points is 4 shy of their opponents here.

You can't argue with Paarl's form but I really liked the way the DSG spinners and Stoinis went about their business at Newlands earlier in the week. The visitors remain in the Western Cape and I can see them coming out on top.
