newlandsSouth Africa and India head to Cape Town for the second and final test match, the game gets underway on Wednesday and the Proteas are 1-0 up in the series.

The first test was staged at Centurion and the Proteas won it by an innings and 32 runs.

Dean Elgar, who announced this will be his last series before he retires from international cricket was Man of the Match, top scoring with 185 in South Africa's first innings total of 408 and Jansen hit 84. That came in reply to India's bat first total of 245 all out (Rahul 101) where Rabada took 5 wickets and Nandre Burger 3.

India's second innings lasted just 34.1 overs and closed on 131 with Burger taking 4 wickets, Jansen 3 and Rabada 2.

This was how the teams lined up in the first test, note Bavuma was unable to bat for the Proteas due to injury and Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second test.

Recent Head to Head

The most recent series came in South Africa over Xmas and New Year 2021/22 and the Proteas won it 2-1.

Newlands, Cape Town

Over the course of the last decade South Africa have won 6 and lost 2 of 9 test matches at Newlands with 1 draw.

The most recent test at this venue came against India in January 2022 and South Africa (210 and 212/3) beat India (223 and 198) by 7 wickets. The quick bowlers took the bulk of the wickets

The Verdict

The current betting shows no clear favourite in the match result market and whilst the Proteas dominated at Centurion, we should see a big improvement from India.

Mainly on price I'm going with Tony di Zorzi to top score for the Proteas in the first innings and I'll stick with Shreyas Iyer to score a 50 in his first knock.

Bets: South Africa Top 1st Innings Run Scorer di Zorzi at 5/1 with Sportingbet

1st Innings Player to score a 50 Shreyas Iyer? Yes at 9/4 with Sportingbet
