Nottingham Forest 31/10 Draw 26/10 West Ham 0.87/1

Forest's return to the Premier League ended in a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. They conceded twice in the second half and failed to register a shot on target, forcing just 1 corner and conceding 11. There was plenty of effort and some stout defending, this first home game will tell us more.

West Ham went down 2-0 at home to Manchester City in their opening match. They had just 25% of possession and rarely threatened as City scored in each half of a one sided contest. David Moyes suggested his team were undercooked for the season opener and a few injuries to defenders didn't help his cause.

Verdict:

This is a much more winnable looking contest than West Ham faced last week but even taking the quality of Manchester City into account it was a weak effort.

Although Forest lost their first match back in the top flight this will be their opening home game, the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth who were also promoted last season did really well in their first matches in front of their own supporters and I give Forest a shout of turning West Ham over.

Chelsea 5/4 Draw 24/10 Spurs 21/10

Chelsea opened up with a solid but unspectacular 1-0 win at Everton last weekend courtesy of a Jorginho penalty. The squad is still being re-shaped and this week Marc Cucurella arrived from Brighton whilst striker Timo Werner has returned to Germany.

Spurs recovered from conceding an early goal to see off Southampton 4-1 in their opening game. Sessegnon and Dier had them 2-1 in front by half time and an own goal followed by a fourth from Kulusevski followed in the second half.

Verdict:

Spurs have a poor record against Chelsea although I got the impression last week that they were more than ready for the new season and Chelsea's new signings are perhaps still bedding in.

I fancy the draw here.
