NewcastleSJPOur featured English Premier League matches this weekend include Newcastle v Wolves on Saturday and Sunday's Manchester derby between City and United

Newcastle 9/10 Draw 29/10 Wolves 2.65/1

Newcastle kept their hopes of a trophy alive with a penalty shoot out win over Championship side Blackburn in midweek (1-1, 90 and extra time).

Focus now switches back to the EPL and Newcastle were thumped 4-1 away to Arsenal last weekend and they are tenth in the standings, 10 points behind fifth placed Spurs. Goals in been flying in from all directions with a total of 42 from their last 8 league games. Recent home fixtures include high scoring draws with Luton (4-4) and Bournemouth (2-2) and they have only kept 1 clean sheet in their last dozen home and away fixtures in the EPL.

Wolves were also successful in the FA Cup in midweek. They edged out Brighton 1-0 in a home fixture and they will host Coventry in the last 8 whilst Newcastle visit Manchester City.

As far as EPL form is concerned Wolves are looking for a third straight win after a 2-1 victory at Spurs and 1-0 home win over Sheffield United. Wolves are 1 point and 1 place better off than Newcastle and qualification for the Europa League / Conference League would still be a possibility for both these teams if they can finish the season strongly.

The Verdict

The first meeting this season finished 2-2 and I see scope for goals again here even though Wolves have Cunha injured and Hwang doubtful. That injury news opens the door for a play on Pedro Neto to score anytime.

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Pedro Neto at 7/2 with BoyleSports

Man City 0.28/1 Draw 52/10 Man United 82/10

City thrashed Luton 6-2 away from home in the FA Cup in midweek with Haaland scoring 5 and de Bruyne assisting 4. That keeps them in the hunt for another treble with the EPL title and the Champions League still very much on the radar.

Since losing a league game 1-0 at Villa in early December City have reeled off 9 wins and 2 draws in the EPL and they remain unbeaten at home. Recent 1-0 wins at home to Brentford and away at Bournemouth were surprisingly low scoring affairs and a recent home game against Chelsea also finished 1-1.

In the title race City come into this weekend in second spot, 1 point behind leaders Liverpool (who visit Forest on Saturday) and 1 in front of third placed Arsenal (who are at Sheffield on Monday). City will visit Liverpool next weekend and then after a blank gameweek they will host Arsenal.

United were really disappointing in a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham last weekend and they finished the round sixth in the standings, 3 points behind fifth placed Spurs. It's very possible, though not guaranteed, that an extra UCL qualification place for the fifth placed finisher will become available for next season and prior to the shocker at Fulham United had reeled off 4 straight league wins including road trips to Wolves (4-3) and Villa and Luton (both 2-1).

In midweek United were 1-0 winners at Forest in the FA Cup and they will host Liverpool in the quarters.

The Verdict

City coasted to a 3-0 win when the teams met at Old Trafford and whilst they have been short of league goals lately, the midweek cup win at Luton showed what the Haaland and de Bruyne combo are capable of.

United have drawn at Anfield this season where they dug in for a 0-0 stalemate and I expect City to have them on the back foot for the bulk of the game. Erling Haaland is a hot fav to find the net after his 5 goal haul in midweek but the value in his quotes could lie in him providing an assist.

I'm also looking at Betway's player to be carded market and Diogo Dalot makes plenty of appeal.

Bets: Player Assists Erling Haaland 1 or more at 26/10 with Betway.

Player to be carded, Diogo Dalot? (yes) at 19/10 with Betway
