Netherlands 11/10 Draw 9/4 Austria 11/4
The Netherlands and France are pretty much neck and neck in Group D with 4 points although the Dutch have scored 1 more goal than the French. Austria have 3 points and Poland, who have yet to open their account will be going home after this.
The top two sides played out a goalless draw in their second group outing, a game of few chances although the Netherlands had a goal chalked off in controversial circumstances. Cody Gakpo scored the first half equalizer for the Dutch against Poland and Wout Weghorst came off the bench and almost immediately found what proved to be the winner on 83 minutes as the Dutch came through 2-1.
Gernot Trauner gave Austria a ninth minute lead against Poland in their second match and although they were pegged back before half time further goals from Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautovic (penalty) gave Austria a deserved 3-1 win. Austria made France work hard in a 1-0 defeat in their opener but clear chances were few and far between and Max Wober was the unlucky man, heading into his own net late in the first half.
The Verdict:
A draw would see the Netherlands finish in the top 2 and it really ought to be enough for Austria as well with the safety net of a best third place finisher. How hungry both sides are to go for top spot is a big factor but I don't think there is an awful lot between these nations anyway so the percentage call is the draw
Bets: Match result draw at 9/4 with Betway
France 3/10 Draw 48/10 Poland 88/10
France left Kylian Mbappe on the bench for the 0-0 draw with the Netherlands, he has been training since breaking his nose in their first match so watch the media for clues as to whether he will play some part. In their first group match France came through their clash with Austria with a 1-0 win. Victory came courtesy of an own goal late in the first half.
Krzysztof Piatek scored Poland's first half equalizer in their second group match against Austria but they conceded twice in the later stages of the match and went down 3-1. Poland's first action came against the Netherlands. Adam Buksa gave them an early lead but the Dutch were level by half time and then found the winner in the 83rd minute. Poland were without Robert Lewandowski for that game but he did come off the bench for the defeat to Austria.
The Verdict:
Avoiding defeat will see France through but they will want the highest possible finishing position and they ought to see Poland off. The Mbappe factor, will he play or won't he? is considerable but either way 2-3 goals in total covers a number of scorelines I can envisage here.
Bets: Multigoals 2-3 at 11/10 with Betway.
