One of the most competitive events on the European Tour takes place this week, as the Made in HimmerLand takes centre stage. The historic event will take place at HimmerLand Golf & Spa Resort in Farso, Denmark, but which players could stand the best chance of having a strong outing?

History & Past Winners

The Made in HimmerLand, or Made In Demark, has been a common event on the European Tour since being introduced in 2014. Six different players have won this event throughout its history, including Marc Warren, who was the first ever winner of the event. Matt Wallace and Thomas Pieters have also won the event on the European Tour.

There is a par 71 on the course, which covers a length of 6,751 yards. The event was one of many that were forced to be cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, which means that the defending champion coming into the event this weekend remains Bernd Wiesberger. The Austrian player scored 270 in 2019 to win the event by one stroke from Robert MacIntyre.

Leading Contenders For Made In HimmerLand

The reigning champion will come into this event in good confidence, as he looks to win a 12th professional event. Seven of his previous wins have come on the European Tour, but he hasn’t won an event on the tour since his success at the Italian Open in October 2019. However, his record around the course in Denmark ensures that he is a hard player to look past this weekend.

Richard Bland was a very popular winner of the British Masters last weekend, as the outsider with BetXChange won his first event on the European Tour on his 478th attempt. It was an excellent performance by the 48-year-old, as he managed to win in a playoff against Guido Migliozzi. That confidence boost of winning a first event could put him in a solid position to challenge for the lead again this weekend.

Migliozzi may have been beaten last week in the playoff, but his record on the European Tour means that he can’t be overlooked. He has won two previous events, with his most recent success coming in the Belgian Knockout in June 2019. The 24-year-old was in competitive form last weekend, and that bolds well coming into the Made In HimmerLand this weekend.

Matthias Schwab finished the British Masters in a tie for eleventh, but will be looking to bounce back this weekend. Robert MacIntyre finished in a tie for eighth at the British Masters, but has strong course form in Norway, as he finished second in 2019. He could be another player that is towards the top of the leaderboard this weekend.

Outright Pick

Our pick for the Made In HimmerLand this weekend is for Migliozzi. The Italian looked back to his best in the British Masters last weekend, and could be set to improve on that in Norway. He has played ten tournaments so far this season, and is currently 17th in the Race to Dubai. He could be a leading contender this weekend.

Pick: Guido Migliozzi with BetXChange.
