Tournament Preview
The RBC Heritage returns for 2021, in its customary place on the PGA Tour calendar – the week after the Masters at Augusta. Hideki Matusyama was the man who took the green jacket home from Magnolia Lane and plenty of the biggest names in the game will be looking to bounce back from chastening weeks at Augusta. The RBC Heritage has been played on the tour for over 50 years and plenty of big names including Stuart Cink, Nick Price and Davis Love III have tasted glory at Hilton Head. With $7.1 million in the prize pot too, the stakes could not be higher in South Carolina this week.
Betting Preview
Outright Winner
Plenty of the biggest names on the PGA Tour feature here in South Carolina and they will be keen to get their hands on some silverware here:-
Despite enduring a week to forget as defending Masters Champion at Augusta last week, Dustin Johnson is still the number one golfer on the planet and is always hard to beat.
Defending champion Webb Simpson won well in this event in 2020 and with some impressive showings so far this year too, he could be very much in the mix come Sunday afternoon.
American Patrick Cantlay strikes the ball as well as any player on the PGA Tour and he could be a good value pick in a very congested field in South Carolina this week.
Despite running out of steam on Sunday at Augusta last weekend, Collin Morikawa has blossomed into one of the best players on the PGA Tour and can never be discarded in any event he plays.
Mexican Abraham Ancer was edged out by just one stroke at this event last year and he could sneak under the radar somewhat at Harbour Town this week.
1st Round Leader
The whole field here in South Carolina will believe they can get off to a strong start and if they do so they could set themselves up for the week ahead:
Fresh off his second place finish at the Masters last weekend, few would bet against young American Will Zalatoris swinging with renewed vigour from the off here at Hilton Head.
Defending Open champion Shane Lowry put in a good showing at Augusta last weekend and with conditions set to be similar here, he could be a tough man to stop.
Englishman Tommy Fleetwood hasn’t been at the very top of his game so far this year but there were glimpses of his best golf at Augusta and conditions should suit.
Top Ten Finish
With so many quality players assembled here in South Carolina, getting into the winning enclosure could be tough but there are plenty of candidates to finish in the top 10 come Sunday afternoon:-
Fiery Englishman Tyrrell Hatton couldn’t quite sustain his highest level for 4 days at Augusta, but he is more than capable of mixing it with the big boys in this field.
American Brian Harman was another man who was right in the mix at Augusta, and few have been able to replicate the consistency he has demonstrated over the past few months on the PGA Tour.
American Kevin Kisner is the epitome of a seasoned pro and he should be raring to go in ideal conditions for his game in South Carolina this week.
