Race 1
This is a competitive Merit Rated 68 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PURPLE POWAHOUSE from the Alyson Wright stable. He lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that Trafalgar Square has come out and won again since. If getting away to a clean start, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
HIGH VELOCITY finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
BIG SLICK showed good improvement over this C&D last time. The obvious concern is the widest draw and with luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 2
DOLCEZZA hails from the visiting Robyn Klaasen stable. She finished 0.5 lengths behind BERENGARIA last time. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She will strip a much fitter horse and from pole position, she can return to winning ways.
BERENGARIA’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She is having her peak run and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
MORGAN LA FAY has good recent form lines to her name. She took the lead at the 900m mark last time, but was caught late by Sleek As Silk. Her last victory came under Richard Fourie and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 3
HOPE IS POWER is better than his last start over 1400m. He won a game race in his penultimate effort over this C&D. He jumps from pole position with Muzi Yeni in the saddle and can notch up his fifth- career victory.
MR HENLEY finished 1 length behind NOW I GOT YOU last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is ideally C&D suited and and merits healthy respect.
NOW I GOT YOU ran a good race in his first start for the Nathan Kotzen stable. He stayed on strongly that day. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should run a big race.
Race 4
CAPTAIN CASEY is better than his last two starts. He returns from an 11-week break which may have done him the world of good. His last victory came over this distance. The son of Captain Of All is the best-weighted runner in this contest and if not in need of the run, he should be too good for this field.
ANCIENT WORLD dead-heated when winning his last start over 1800m on this course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is the stable elect with Tristan Godden in the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.
RED WILLIAM finished 0.4 lengths behind MASTER FUEGO last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip a much fitter horse and can show.
Race 5
PURPLE OPERATOR should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched for running room at the 300m mark. It must be noted that William Rufus has come out and won again since. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba which will assist his cause. The 5yo gelding can return to winning ways.
JOSHUA HOTSNAKE ran a fair race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CUPID’S SONG was running on when fourth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. Two of his four career victories have come over this C&D. Richard Fourie returns to the saddle and he should have a say.
Race 6
MIDNIGHT CALLER set the pace over the mile last time, but did not go on with the effort. He finished 0.8 lengths behind EDDIE THE MOVER in his penultimate start. He is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. From pole position, he should be hard to peg back.
EDDIE THE MOVER has good recent form lines to his name. He took on stronger last time and stayed on to finish third. Robert Khathi steps back into the saddle and the pair merit healthy respect.
GIAMBATTISTA fought hard for his last victory over this C&D last time. He received a three- pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and must be included in all bets.
Race 7
KITTEN’S ADVENTURE was not disgraced when fifth against stronger company over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of Admiral Kitten takes a drop-in class and from her good draw of four, she can notch up her fourth-career victory.
ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY finished 1.3 lengths behind QUANABI last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.
QUANABI won a good race in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from eight starts over this C&D. She does have to overcome the widest draw, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 8
POURSOMESUGARONME won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She lost a length leaving the start, but quickened up well and won going away. The daughter of Captain Of All received a four-pound penalty for that victory. If getting away to a clean start, she can follow up.
KINGSMEADS KRYSTL was running on when second over this C&D last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
GLOBAL SECRET was caught late when second over this distance on the turf last time. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from nine starts over this C&D. If fit, she should be involved at the finish
