She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. From her good draw of two, she may be the one to side with.
MAURITANIA set the pace over 1400m last time but was caught late by Star Choice. She won her penultimate effort over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
DUCHESS OF GOLD stayed on at the finish over 1900m last time but found one too good in the form of Jollification. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade has dropped to a competitive rating and she can feature.
Race 2
QUANABI should have finished closer to MISS LIALAH last time as she was baulked for running room at the 250m mark. She is 4kgs better off at the weights this afternoon. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from nine starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie retains the ride and if he is able to switch her off early, she can return to winning ways.
MISS LIALAH is a winner of her last two starts. She received a nine-pound penalty for her last victory. The 6yo mare is in a good space and can defy the penalty.
STAR CHOICE was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. Craig Zackey retains the ride and she can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 3
SWEET JULIA challenged strongly in her comeback run over 1000m on this course, but found one too good in the form of Belle Fontaine. The daughter of What A Winter would have come on from the run, will strip much fitter and she should love the rise to 1400m. From her good draw of three, she is the horse to beat.
PURPLE FLOWER is the stable companion of the top choice. She raced from a handy position last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Littleblackvelvet. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Time Thief merits healthy respect. ]
FLYING REIGN STORM is lightly raced with fair form lines to her name. She tries the 1400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
