Race 1
Seven of the eight runners in this contest are first timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. BLACK FROST showed good improvement when second over 1100m on this course last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he was switched for running room at the 250m mark. With racing experience on his side, he may be the one to beat.
I’M A FIREBALL is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Tristan Godden in the saddle. He is related to four-time winner You Win Again. If not in need of this outing, he should start his career on a positive note.
MIGHTY ZAMBEZI is a son of What A Winter from the Wendy Whitehead yard with Serino Moodley booked to ride. He is related to four-time winner Ideal Act. If not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 2
CAPTAIN’S PRIDE ran a good race when third over 1100m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Captain Of All is a progressive type and she may be the one to side with in this line-up.
MISS DANON finished 3.6 lengths behind the top selection on debut. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.
MALSHANA MOU was in need of her debut effort over this C&D. She was green in running and lacked a finish in the closing stages. The daughter of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and with Sean Veale in the saddle, there should be good improvement to come.
Race 3
LIFE ON THE TIDES showed good improvement when fifth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he had to be switched for running room at the 150m mark. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody is a progressive type and in this field, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
MS GALORE was disappointing in her last start. Her debut effort when fourth over this C&D was encouraging. The daughter of Bezrin has scope and is one of the leading contenders.
SOVEREIGN COMMAND ran a fair race when fourth over this C&D last time. 4kgs claiming apprentice Mxolisi Mbuto retains the ride and he can earn a cheque for his patrons in this field.
Race 4
MASTER DU ROUVRAY showed very good improvement when second over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position and rallied late. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He meets the right field and can go one better.
VENCEDOR has fair consistent form lines to his credit. His penultimate run when third over this C&D was encouraging. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
O SPACE O finished 0.15 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. He is having his peak run and may be hard to peg back.
Race 5
UMZOLOZOLO has produced two fair efforts since her 13-week break. She stayed on at the finish over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Elusive Fort should love the rise to 1750m and she will be at peak fitness. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she may be the one to beat.
SANBEENEE ran on from far back when second over 1600m on the polytrack last time. If repeating that effort in this field, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
MAGIC MAVERICK stayed on when fourth over 1600m on this course last time. She should have no issues with the rise to 1750m and she would not be a shock winner.
Race 6
SIBERIAN WINTER stayed on when sixth over 1100m last time. Her penultimate run when second over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville catches the eye. The daughter of Rabada is the stable elect with Rachel Venniker in the saddle. With a bit of luck from her wide draw, she can return to winning ways.
BEAUTIFUL RANIA is better than her last start over 1200m against male company. She is back against her own sex and if this outing has not come too soon, she should pose a threat.
FORT J’ADORE was in need of her comeback run over this distance on the polytrack. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she can find a form return.
Race 7
RUGGER LOVER has found a form return in her last two starts. She finished off her race well when fourth over this C&D last time. The daughter of What A Winter has dropped to a competitive rating and Sean Veale may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
HAPPY ANALIA showed good speed over 1200m last time before getting outrun late by One Smart Cookie. All three of her career victories have come over this distance. The daughter of Erupt is a solid back-up for the Tienie Prinsloo stable.
MAMAS BABY was outrun late when second over 1200m on the polytrack last time. The daughter of Rafeef takes a rise in class, but she is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 8
GORGEOUS GUY finished 2 lengths behind ABADDON last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back which should assist his cause. He is likely to race on the speed and can return to winning ways.
ALL THE TIME finished 0.8 lengths behind ABADDON in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and should turn the form around. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.
ABADDON followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this C&D. The son of Flying The Flag is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick
