Race 1

QUEEN OF LOVE produced a promising debut effort over 1400m on the Standside course. She challenged strongly all the way to the line that day, but found one too good in the form of Too Late My Mate. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Rafeef would have come on from the run and should love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

THE CROWN ran a good race on debut over 1400m on the Standside course. The obvious concern is the widest barrier position but if all goes according to plan, she should be competitive.

VOLARE E MAMBO is lightly raced with decent form lines to her credit. The mile should be right up her alley and from her good draw of two, she should be involved at the finish

Race 2

SAKURAJIMA produced an encouraging debut effort over 1450m on this course. He understandably raced green but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Talk Of The Town would have gained from the experience and should enjoy the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

MASTERSHIP raced from a handy position over 1400m last time but found one too good in the form of Salute The Flag. The son of Master Of My Fate should love the rise to the mile and he is one of the leading contenders.

DECEPTION PASS over raced in his last start over 1700m which may have cost him winning. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip much fitter and if switching off early, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. He is carded to race on 17 April 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 3

A PLACE IN THE SUN has good recent form lines to her credit. She challenged strongly over 1800m last time but found one too good in the form of Judgement Day. She has won once and finished second three times from five starts on this course. She takes on her own sex and drops in class this afternoon. The daughter of Flower Alley is the horse to beat.

MARTINIQUE ran a fair race against male company over this C&D last time. Her only victory came under Muzi Yeni. She has no stamina issues and is one of the leading contenders.

GILDA GRAY was running on when second over 1800m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She tries the 2600m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be competitive.

Race 4

MIGHTY GODDESS is the best bet on the programme. She should have won her last start as she hung in the final 200m. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Flying The Flag meets the right field today and if keeping on a straight line, she should notch up her fourth-career victory.

ZENOBIA’S GOLD was given a peach of a ride when winning her maiden over 1400m last time. The daughter of William Longsword should love the rise to the mile. She has plenty of scope and should give a good account of herself.

FREE IN SEATTLE is a progressive type and won a game race over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She carries a light mass of 53.5kgs and should give her older rivals a run for their money. She is carded to race on 17 April 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 5

TO THE RESCUE followed up his maiden victory with an encouraging fifth-place finish over 2000m on the Standside course. He shed his maiden tag over this distance. The son of Gimmethegreenlight takes on weaker opposition this afternoon and despite his big mass of 62kgs, he may be the one to side with.

HOLOCENE has finished third in his last three starts. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this distance. He takes a drop in class and Piere Strydom may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

FUTUREWOLFF stayed on when third over 1600m on this course last time. He won his penultimate start over this C&D. He is clearly in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 6

JORDAN showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 2000m on the Standside course. He raced from a handy position but found one too good in the form of Marauding Horde. The son of Silvano is having his peak run today. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he can go one better from a good draw of two.

SUPREME DANCE stayed on when fourth over 1700m last time. Three of his five career victories have come over this distance. He jumps from a good draw of four and must be included in all bets.

WHISPERS OF WAR ran a decent race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He has won twice and finished second three times from ten starts on this course. If switching off early, he should be right there at the finish.

Race 7

BRAVE VIKING ran a fair race over 1400m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that Mid Winter Wind has come out and won again since. The son of William Longsword has dropped in the ratings and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can win a race of this nature.

CHAMPION WARRIOR has finished second in his last two starts. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He takes a rise in class but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

MARDI GRAS ran a good race when second over 1600m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

Race 8

ICE STAR has consistent form lines to her credit. She showed good speed over this distance last time, but found one too good in the form of Time Fo Orchids. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

GLOBAL THUNDER finished 4.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If keeping on a straight line, she should pose a threat to the top choice.

AMBER ROCK won a good race in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She finished third in her only attempt on this course. She does take on stronger, but is in a good space and should give a good account of herself.

Race 9

TURBO POWER stayed on when second over 1160m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that Dreamland has come out and won again since. He has won once and finished second once from four starts over this distance. He is the horse to beat with Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle.

MUNCHKIN’S last three starts have been decent. He finished 1 length behind CIRCUS LIGHTS, three runs ago. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

CIRCUS LIGHTS has finished second in his last two starts. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
