Race 1

PRINCESS KEIRA took her place in the Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes last time. She showed signs of needing that outing as she weakened in the closing stages. The daughter of One World would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride, and she may be the one to side with.

QUEEN’S PACT showed good speed over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time, but found one too good in the form of Clairwood Rose. The daughter of Act Of War is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders.

LITTLEMISSSPLENDID ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. She would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.

Race 2

BLINDFIRE was in need of her debut effort over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She understandably raced green and did not go on with the effort. The daughter of Willow Magic would have gained from the experience and she receives her sex allowance. Andrew Fortune is booked to ride and in this field, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

SIMBINE ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. The son of What A Winter would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be involved at the finish.

CARNARVON finished 1.7 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The son of Elusive Fort would have gained from the experience and can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 3

OLD FASHIONED was running on when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

RINGHO finished 4.2 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

TURF GURU finished 4.4 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. He is having his peak run and with Andrew Fortune in the saddle, there should be further improvement to come.

Race 4

SAUDI SWEEP was doing her best work late when third in her comeback run over 1160m on this course. The daughter of Pomodoro would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She jumps from a good draw of four and should give the males a run for their money.

DYLAN’S CHAMP has good consistent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that Immediate Edge has come out and won twice since. He was carded to race on 06 March 2025 before getting withdrawn at the start due to not striding out. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

OBSIDIAN was touched off in his last start over 1800m on this course. He returns from a 15-week break. The son of Erupt drops to 1400m and if not in need of the run, he should be competitive.

Race 5

SUMMER WINTER was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of What A Winter is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If S’manga Khumalo can switch her off early, she should be involved at the finish.

CAPE SAFFRON stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Pumpkin Pie. The daughter of Flower Alley is a progressive type and she may have more to come.

WINDS OF GRACE produced a typical second run after a rest last time. Her penultimate run when third over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course was encouraging. If this run has not come too soon, she should feature.

Race 6

JUST VAR won a good race in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. The son of Var is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

SIGRID SWING stayed on when third over 1450m on the Inside course last time. The daughter of William Longsword has dropped to a competitive rating and from pole position, she should pose a threat to the top choice.

THERES A LIGHT’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Ryan Munger takes the ride and he can show.

Race 7

ARISTOTLE is better than his last start in the Grade 1 TAB SA Classic as he was reported to be not striding out. He finished third in his penultimate run in the Grade 2 TAB Gauteng Guineas. The son of Rafeef is having his peak run today and from his good draw of three, he should be the one to beat.

KAMENSKY finished 0.8 lengths behind ROYAL FORCE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from his last outing and should strip much fitter. He won his maiden under Gavin Lerena and the pair merit healthy respect.

ROYAL FORCE found extra where it matters most to win his last start over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. The son of Heavenly Blue should have no issues with the rise to 1600m and he should be competitive.

Race 8

STAR COIN stumbled leaving the start over 1800m last time and stayed on at the finish. He finished 1.75 lengths behind APACHE SON that day. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Gold Standard would not be a shock winner.

APACHE SON was running on when third over 1800m on the Inside course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If jumping on terms, he should be involved at the finish.

TOTAL SURRENDER finished 1 length behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 9

KARATE KID’S last start is best ignored as the jockey was dislodged. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. He is the best-weighted runner with 53.5kgs on his back and can return to winning ways.

QUANTUM THEORY ran a good race when second over this C&D last time, despite excuses. He has won once, finished second three times and third twice from ten starts over this C&D. If not in need of the run, he should pose a threat.

MOUNT PILATUS was in need of his last start in the Grade 3 TAB JJ The Jet Plane Stakes. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. He is having his first run for Fanie Bronkhorst and cannot be ignored.

Race 10

PACIFIC was running on when third over this distance on the Inside course last time. He finished 0.3 lengths behind SAMOA in his penultimate run. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the son of Willow Magic can notch up his second-career victory.

SAMOA has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. The daughter of Global One runs well for Gavin Lerena and she should pose a threat.

IN THE ETHER held on where it matters most to win her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She is carded to race on 20 March 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored
