Race 1
TROMBETTISTA showed good speed over 1200m at the Vaal last time, but found one too good in the form of Phala Millions. He was reported to be coughing that day. The son of New Predator is having his peak run today and in this field, he should be the one to beat.
OKLAHOMA TWISTER finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
IN A BLUE MOON stayed on when third over 1800m at the Vaal last time. He gets the services of capable work rider Samuel Mosia and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 2
COSMIC SPEED ran a good race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Querari should have no issues with the rise to 1200m and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
CHESTNUT BOMBER was in need of his debut effort in the Listed Storm Bird Stakes. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.
DANCE KING was green in running when third on debut over 1000m on this course. The son of Global View should love the rise to 1200m and he should make the natural improvement.
Race 3
DRAGON DRAGON showed good improvement when second in her last start over this C&D. The daughter of Twice Over is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can go one better.
TOGETHER AGAIN stayed on when third over this distance at the Vaal last time. She is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
THE NAVY LARK finished 0.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 4
BAD MEDICINE stayed on when second over 1000m on this course, on debut. The son of Vercingetorix has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. He should have no issues with the rise to 1200m and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
WAHEED was in need of her debut effort over this distance at the Vaal. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Time Thief should make the natural progression.
I BELONG was in need of his debut effort over 1000m on the Standside course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he should make the natural progression.
Race 5
KARANGETANG produced a decent comeback run over 1200m on this course. He has won twice, finished second twice and third twice from ten starts over this distance. The son of Erupt is the stable elect with Gavin Lerena up and he should strip much fitter. He may be the one to side with in this field.
DREAMLAND is a winner of his last two starts on the Standside course. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
WIND WATER finished 1.85 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 6
CAPE LIGHTS ran a decent race in her last start over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. She has won once and finished second three times from five starts over this C&D. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
KISSING MACHINE followed up her maiden win with a good second-place finish over this distance on the Standside course. She tries the blinkers which should keep her mind on the task at hand. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and is one of the leading contenders.
MAGICAL FLIGHT showed guts when second in her last start over 1400m on the Standside course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. She may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 7
MAX THE OTTER ran a fair race in his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Vercingetorix takes a drop-in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
BOB’S YOUR UNCLE’S last two starts have been decent. He was reported to be coughing in his last outing. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
MK’S DREAMS was a tad disappointing in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. On best form shown, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
POCKET WATCH is better than his last start at the Vaal. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He won his maiden over this C&D. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw of eight and may be hard to peg back.
CHAMPION WARRIOR should have won his last start as he hung in the final 300m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BLOOMINGTON stayed on when second over this C&D last time. He takes a drop in class and must be included in all bets
