Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Tuesday 25th March where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
TANA MAREE should give punters a good start to the day. She stayed on after a slow start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of Trippi is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If getting away on terms, she should take a power of beating in this line-up.
LIKE A PRAYER has been disappointing in her last two starts. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Danon Platina gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.
POTATO SALAD’S last three starts have been fair. The daughter of Potala Palace is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 2
MIZZEN SWORD challenged strongly over 1160m on the Turffontein Standside course last time, but was touched off by Futurenaire. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena retains the ride and with luck in running, he can go one better.
TRIP TO STATES was running on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He finished 5.75 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
GIMME A STORM is better than her last start over this distance. She finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.
Race 3
PIONEER SQUARE is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He returns from a 15-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Querari has scope and if not in need of the run, he should be the one to beat.
DYLAN’S CHAMP has good consistent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that Immediate Edge has come out and won again since. He is carded to race on 22 March 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
THAT’S MAGICAL is an unraced son of Last Winter from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
Race 4
INSTANT ATTRACTION has decent consistent form lines to her credit. She was outrun by Huehuetenango in her last start over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is drawn wide in barrier eleven but gets the services of Ryan Munger who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
GIFT OF ROYAL lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish third. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD is better than his last two starts. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and from his good draw of two, he can feature.
Race 5
PRINCESS ILARIA quickened up well to win her last start over 1400m on the Turffontein Standside course. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from eight starts on this course. The daughter of Pomodoro is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.
ROAMING SPIRIT finished 2.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
SAIL THE SKY tried hard when second over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He steps up to 1600m and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he cannot be ignored.
Race 6
THUNDERBIRD is better than his last start against stronger company. He won his penultimate run over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course, in this class. The son of Querari steps up to 1500m for the first time. It is a big plus that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can notch up his third-career victory.
PERINI PALACE has decent consistent form lines to her credit. Both her career victories have come on this course. Andrew Fortune is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome the widest draw and she may be hard to peg back.
SILKY JET ran a fair race over 2000m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is having her first run for Trainer Robyn Klaasen and should feature.
Race 7
PALACE DANCER has good consistent form lines to her credit. She stayed on when third over 1450m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Potala Palace should produce another honest effort.
WILLOW EXPRESS’ last two starts have been fair. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from eight starts on this course. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
MOOLA MAN is better than his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. He returns from a 16-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he can find a form return in this line-up.
Race 8
BEAMONESQUE stayed on at the finish over 1000m on this course last time. The son of Rafeef takes a drop in class and should be cherry-ripe. He jumps from a good draw of two and in this field, he can return to winning ways.
SUPER AWESOME challenged strongly when fourth over this C&D last time. Both his career victories have come on this course. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
PAUL REVERE finished 1.7 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. Ryan Munger steps back into the saddle which is a big plus
