Race 1
Trainer Tony Peter holds a strong hand in this contest and can saddle the first three past the post. KYLIE’S ANGEL is the stable elect with Phelisile Mongqawa in the saddle. She received a bump leaving the start last time, but raced from a handy position and stayed on to finish third. She should have no issues with the drop to 1200m and can shed her maiden tag.
CAT O’CLOCK is lightly raced and has finished third in her last three outings. She has scope and back against her own sex, she should be competitive.
BELLISSIVAR showed good speed when second over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but was caught late by Seventeen Again. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. She is carded to race on 27 July 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 2
GINGER DELIGHT won a good race on debut over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She was slow into stride, ran on well and fought hard all the way to the line. The daughter of Canford Cliffs takes on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
ACROSS THE POND was caught late when second over 1600m at Turffontein last time. She won her only attempt on this course. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GOLDEN MOMENT stayed on when fifth over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Pomodoro will love the rise to 1500m and with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
KOMATI RIVER should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the final 300m. The daughter of Vercingetorix is back against her own sex and she meets the right field. If keeping on a straight line, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
TAKE YOUR PLACE has good recent form lines to her name. She has finished second once and third once from three starts over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she is one of the leading lights.
SUNFIRE showed good improvement when sixth over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of Willow Magic is a progressive type and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, she can finish in the placings.
Race 4
KALEESH CYBORG produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. He understandably raced green but the manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. The son of Global View would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
TWELVE OCLOCK HIGH should have finished closer to the winner on debut as he was baulked for running room between the 300m mark and 200m mark. The son of Red Ray would have come on from the run and with luck, he should pose a massive threat.
POTBERRIE showed good improvement in his last start over 1100m on this course. If confirming that effort, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
JURY’S OUT is better than his last start in the Grade 3 TAB Sea Cottage Stakes. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this distance. He runs well for Gavin Lerena and won his only attempt on this course. On best form shown, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
ANOTHER LEVEL’S last three starts have been decent. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He will enjoy the return to the mile and is a solid back-up for the Dawson yard.
PYROMANIAC is better than his last two starts. He takes a drop back in class and if putting his best foot forward, he can improve to finish in the placings.
Race 6
JULIET TANGO should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the closing stages. She finished 0.75 lengths behind CEUTA in her penultimate run. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She takes a drop in class and can return to winning ways. She is carded to race on 28 July 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
CEUTA is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She won her maiden over this C&D. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
ELEMBEE may not have seen out the 2000m last time. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. She is drawn wide but gets the services of Piere Strydom who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 7
SOLO DIVA stayed on when fourth over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She has won once and finished third twice from eight starts over this distance. She takes a slight drop in class and can notch up her third-career victory.
BOOM BOOM stayed on when fourth over this distance at Turffontein last time. She meets weaker company and if getting away to a clean start with Gavin Lerena up, she should go close to winning.
PLAY WITH FIRE ran a fair race when third over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course. Denis Schwarz retains the ride and from pole position, she can finish in the money.
Race 8
BLACKBERRY BREEZE showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as the jockey dropped his crop in the closing stages. The son of Silvano is the stable elect with Calvin Habib in the saddle and from his good draw of three, he should be competitive.
AMERICAN BISCUIT was running on when third over 1600m at Turffontein last time. He will enjoy the extra 100m on offer and Piere Strydom should get that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
SAFE SPACE just won his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Elusive Fort is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 9
AFTER HOURS ran a fair race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The son of Bezrin should be ideally suited to this distance. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. On best form shown, he can return to winning ways.
MICKE’S BOMB showed good speed when second over 1000m at Turffontein last time. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should give the males a run for their money.
DANCING DORA stayed on when third over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She finished 0.4 lengths behind NAZARE in her penultimate run. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
