The Paarl Royals last match was a much needed victory over the Durban Super Giants. The Durban Super Giants had won the toss and sent the home team in to bat at Boland Park and the Paarl Royals reached a 169 for 6 in their 20 overs with Wihan Lubbe’s 57 off 36 balls the stand out innings. They then restricted the Durban Super Giants to 159 for 8 with Evan Jones picking up 4 for 32 in 4 overs and Bjorn Fortuin opening the bowling and setting the tone for the innings with an excellent 3 for 14 off his 4 overs.
SUNRISERS EASTERN CAPE
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape were in action in Cape Town yesterday against MI Cape Town. They won the toss and sent MI Cape Town into bat and for long periods it looked like they would restrict them to 150 runs or under, but a late burst by MI Cape Town saw them reach 171 for 6 in 20 overs, Roelof van der Merwe with 2 for 21 in 4 overs had the best bowling figures with strong support from Ottniel Baartman who got 2 for 21 in 3 overs.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape battled to stay in touch with the run rate and they looked dead and buried when Marco Jansen strode to the wicket to score an incredible 66 off 27 balls. He went out just before the end, but his team got home by 2 wickets and with 3 balls to spare. Tristan Stubbs failed to kick on, but looked good scoring 28 off 21 balls.
