The Capitals and the Royals met last night at Centurion Park and although the final result was a comfortable 59 win for the Capitals, there was plenty of tension in the final overs as Paarl Royals had to score 163 runs to finish 4th on the log and book their spot in the semi-final. In the end they reached 167 for 9 chasing down 227 for victory and it was just enough to see them through to another clash against the same opponents.
Looking at the match itself the Paarl Royals won the toss and elected to field first, a decision they soon regretted as Phil Salt and Kusal Mendis started in express fashion putting on 69 runs for the first wicket in under 6 overs. Salt got 39 off 21 and Mendis 80 off 41 and there was also a strong contribution from Colin Ingram in the middle order scoring 41 off 21 balls.
As far as the Paarl Royals Bowlers go most of them took a beating, but Lungi Ngidi was the stand-out with his 2 for 39 in 4 overs and he certainly gave another master class in using pace variation.
The Paarl Royals got off to a brisk start, but then the wickets began to tumble. In the end it was Jos Buttler who held his nerve scoring 70 off 45 balls after a cautious start. Eoin Morgan chipped in with 24 off 12 and while it wasn’t an impressive performance it was job done as far as semi-final qualification goes.
For the Capitals Neesham got 3/28 but was expensive while Pretorius and Rashid picked up 2 wickets a piece at economical rates.

Pretoria Capitals 15/20
Paarl Royals 11/10
Suggested Bet: Paarl Royals win at 11/10
I was disappointed in the Royals performance yesterday particularly with the ball and I think when they came out to bat they had their target of 163 in mind and not the 228 to win the match. Looking at their batting line-up there are plenty of big hitters and although their only match at the Wanderers to date was rained out*, the likes of Buttler and Roy clearly showed a liking for the wicket.
Suggested Bet: Pretoria Capitals Top Bowler, Eathan Bosch at 11/4
Bosch has really impressed as the Tournament has gone on and he is a handful particularly at the start of the innings. I have followed Anrich Nortje in this market, but at 7/4 his price is just a bit short for me and I am switching allegiance here and go for Bosch to get the most wickets.
Suggested Bet: Paarl Royals Top Batsman, David Miller at 9/2
Buttler is a strong favourite in this market at 13/10 and it is hard to argue with that, but I am looking for David Miller to come in with a good few overs left and to get the Royals top score.
Remember there are plenty of in-running betting options during the game.
