Mamelodi Sundowns 9/20 Draw 31/10 TS Galaxy 6/1

Sundowns began their quest for a record sixth successive domestic league title with a 2-0 win away to Cape Town City on Friday of last week. After the first half failed to produce a goal Sundowns struck twice in 3 second half minutes with Modiba and Zwane on target and there was to be no way back for City.

TS Galaxy played out a 0-0 draw at home to Amazulu in their opening match. They found it tough going last season, finishing fourth from bottom with 30 points, 12 of which were earned from their 15 road trips (3 wins, 3 draws) and they found the net just 8 times on their travels whilst they conceded 20.

The Verdict

Sundowns won both of last season's league meetings by a 3-0 scoreline and in 2020/21 they alsocompleted the double over Galaxy without conceding. Throw the weekend's results into the mix with Downs winning with a clean sheet and Galaxy failing to score and another Sundowns win “to nil” looks to have plenty going for it.

We went for Downs to win 1-0,2-0 or 3-0 in Cape Town last week and that same option in the multiscores market is the play here.

Bet: Multiscores Sundowns to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 at 21/20

Stellenbosch 5/2 FC Draw 18/10 Orlando Pirates 13/10

Stellies played out a 0-0 draw away to Marumo Gallants in their opening match. They had an excellent campaign last season although they were beaten 3-0 by Pirates in a home clash after the teams drew 2-2 in Orlando. Six of their 11 wins came in home fixtures last season along side 7 draws and 2 defeats.

Pirates edged their way past Swallows with a 1-0 win on Saturday to give new coach Jose Riveiro a winning start. Evanga sruck in the tenth minute of a first half

Pirates dominated but the second half was much more even albeit without any further scoring. Improvement in away form will be needed if Pirates are to challenge for the title, last season they won just 3 road trips, drawing 8 and losing 4.

The Verdict

This looks a tougher task than what Pirates faced at the weekend although the win on the opening weekend was all important. I'll go with the Bucs to edge it by a single goal margin at a price that does make some appeal.

Bet: Winning Margin, Pirates by 1 goal exactly at 3/1.
