BettingDiaryThe British and Irish Lions play their final preparation match before the First Test against the Springboks next week and this game takes place at the Cape Town Stadium.

The first thing to note is that the weather looks good so we can expect some running rugby from both teams.

The Stormers are coming off a disappointing 30-28 loss to the Griquas in the Currie Cup and a number of the players will be looking to prove themselves against the tourists. Tim Swiel will marshal the backline from the 10 jersey and they will be looking to get more balls to the likes of Senatla and Petersen who can be devastating when getting space.

The Lions tasted defeat for the first time on tour when they went down 17-13 to the South African “A” side on Wednesday. The South African side were certainly packed with Springboks and the game was quite a slow paced affair with neither side wanting to give anything away. Prior to that they had cruised all 3 of their tour matches, 2 against the Sharks and 1 against the Lions.

All eyes will be on Marcus Smith who was a late call-up to the touring squad and starts in the 10 jersey and watch out for Stuart Hogg’s weaving runs from fullback.

Stormers 33/1

Draw 100/1

British & Irish Lions 1/100

Handicap: Stormers (+38.5) at 9/10, B&I Lions (-38.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, British & Irish Lions (-38.5) at 9/10

I really like the look of this British & Irish Lions side and at some stage expect them to cut loose in this game. The handicap is big, but I am not sure it is big enough.
