This week’s PGA Tour event will be a Pro-Am, but without the amateurs due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. We take a look at the field and select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
This tournament is usually played over 3 courses due to the massive field, but we are cutting back to 2 this year with Spyglass Hill used in rounds 1 and 2 and Pebble Beach will also be alternated by the players in the early rounds and will be the only course for the 3rd and 4th rounds.
The set-up of Pebble Beach will be interesting as without the amateurs there is less pressure on making the course playable and it could be quite a bit tougher than what we have seen in previous years. Length off the tee at Pebble is less important than finding a good position on the fairway for your approach shot and the ability to plot your way around the course will be important.
A quick look at the betting sees Patrick Cantlay, the favourite, 15/2 with Daniel Berger 16/1 and you can get 20/1 and better the balance.

SELECTIONS:
Jordan Spieth each way at 25/1
It was great to see Jordan Spieth knocking on the door last week, eventually finishing in the Top 5. That broke a horrid run of poor form for Jordan and he plays in an event which he has won before and also finished in the Top 10 last year despite not playing well at the time. This is a bit of a sentimental pick, but I would love Jordan Spieth to win again this week.
Si Woo Kim each way at 33/1
Kim’s form has been a bit erratic, he had a victory three starts back, but since then has had a missed cut and barely scraped into the Top 50. The same can be said for his course form as he was Top 5 here 2 years ago, but missed the cut last year. It is that erratic form that means we get a decent price on him this week and I am happy to have him in the staking plan.
Brandt Snedeker each way at 100/1
Snedeker has not been in great form and his last finish was a Top 35 two weeks ago that broke a run of 3 missed cuts though and may be a sign that he is coming to hand. He hasn’t done much in this event of late, but go back a few years and he has won it twice and finished in the Top 5 as well. As a triple figure price we can keep stakes low.
Francesco Molinari each way at 25/1
I am going back up towards the top of the betting boards for this pick and while he has no Tournament form due to not having played it, Molinari has been in good nick with a couple of Top 10’s in his last 3 starts. His game is well suited to the Pebble Beach course and I can see the Italian challenging this week
