International cricket and horse racing are the highlights of Wednesday’s Betting Diary and we must also take a look ahead to the season ending DP World Tour Champs starting on Thursday.
CRICKET
New Zealand and England meet in the first of 2 tests and this game gets going at around midnight on Wednesday, South African time.
New Zealand are favourites at 13/10 with England 14/10 and the draw the outsider of the 3 results at 17/4. Kane Williamson is set to make his return to the New Zealand side and we think he is worth a bet at 12/5 to be the Top Home Batsman. There are not normally that many sixes hit in Test Matches, but England do appear to have the bigger hitters and they are 12/10 to hit more sixes than New Zealand appeals.

HORSE RACING
Local horse racing takes place at Kenilworth in Cape Town on Wednesday with an 8 race card set to get off at 13:25 and set to finish at 17:38.
Looking down the card you get the feeling that this Pick Six is going to be very easy to catch or it is going to pay absolute bonds as there are a number of firm favourites on the cards including one of our fancies, Horse No. 8, Missisippi Burning in Race 4 currently priced at 2/1 a win.
If you are looking to go narrow in the 6th Race then you should get through with Horse No. 5, Pinkerton currently 14/10 and Horse No. 3, Golden Ducat currently priced at 19/10 and for those braver enough to banker in the last, Horse No. 5, Track Attack currently 13/10 could be worth a gamble and that would allow you to load up on some of the earlier races

GOLF
Given the European Tour event starts fairly early on Thursday morning we thought we would cover it in our Wednesday Diary and Rory Mcilroy is the 4/1 favourite to win the DP World Tour Championship and he is 8/10 for a Top 5 finish. 2nd in the betting is Jon Rahm at 13/2 and last week’s winner at Sun City, Tommy Fleetwood is a 16/1 shot.
We feel there may be some betting value further down the list and fancy Sergio Garcia for a strong run at 55/1 a win and 11/1 a Top 5.
Louis Oosthuizen is the first of the South Africans in the betting at 20/1 with Erik van Rooyen, who was disappointing in the Nedbank Challenge, at 50/1 and if you are looking for a real roughie this week, Ian Poulter showed signs of life at Sun City and he can be backed at 110/1 a win and 22/1 a Top 5 finish.
The Top South African Market is always a fun one and there are only 5 South Africans in the event this week with Oosthuizen 5/4, van Rooyen 5/2, Bezuidenhout 9/2, Justin Harding 6/1 and Richard Sterne 14/1. We think van Rooyen will put last week’s disappointment at Sun City behind him and looks the value in this market at 5/2.
