We take a look at some of Thursday’s sports betting and horse racing highlights in our daily Betting Diary.
CRICKET
Australia take on Pakistan in the 1st Test and they are firm favourites at 2/9, the draw 17/2 and Pakistan 7/1.
The action gets going in the early hours of Thursday morning and there will be in-running opportunities for punters who wake up after the match has started. There are also a host of Exotic Markets on the game and it is no surprise to see Steve Smith firm favourite to be Top Australian Batsman at 16/10 given how prolific he was in the recent Ashes Series.

The Mzansi Super League continues on Thursday with the Tshwane Spartans (4/6) up against the Durban Heat (5/4) and there are a number of exotic markets on the game including which batsman will hit the most 6’s and Player Performance.

GOLF

The PGA continues with The RSM Classic and here we have Webb Simpson a 17/2 favourite for the win and paying 17/10 a Top 5 finish at the time of writing. Billy Horschel has never quite regained the form that saw him crowned FedEx Cup Champion a few years ago, but he is 2nd favourite at 16/1 with Matt Kuchar 25/1 and 28/1 and better the balance.
South Africans don’t have to look too far down the leader board for one of their own and Dylan Frittelli is trading at 35/1 a win and 7/1 a place.

HORSE RACING
Local horse racing takes place at the Vaal Racetrack on Thursday with a 9 race card set to get off at 12:35 and scheduled to finish at 17:15.
There are a number of firm favourites on the cards and Masaaqaat, Horse No. 3 in Race 5 should rate a popular Pick Six banker currently priced at even money for the victory. Striker Strydom rides Cirillo, Horse No. 2 in the 7th Race, a 1400 metre gallop and although the 4 year old is carrying a hefty 62 kilograms, Cirillo is the current firm favourite at even money. The last two legs of the Pick Six are far more open affairs and they are betting 9/2 the field in both Race 8 and Race 9 and it may well be an idea to banker the 2 even money shots and load up the last two legs although, of course, if you are chasing the big dividend you are going to want to beat the strong favourites.
