BettingDiaryThe remaining quarter-final spots will be decided in the Champions League this weekend and we take a look at Friday’s last 16 second leg matches from a betting angle.

MANCHESTER CITY v REAL MADRID – Click here to bet

Manchester City are in the box seat having beaten Real Madrid 2-1 on the road back in February. They were a bit hit and miss in the League by their standards after the return to action following the COVID-19 break, but their home form could not be faulted and they had some big wins including a 4-0 victory over champions, Liverpool.

Real Madrid won 2 and lost 1 of their 3 away matches in the Group Stages and their recent away form in the League was solid with a draw in their last start and prior to that had 4 victories by exactly 1 goal margins.

Betting:

Manchester City 7/10

Draw 33/10

Real Madrid 67/20

Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 goals at 15/10

Bookmakers are expecting a high scoring game, but I am not so certain as City have been very strong at the back and I expect them to adopt a fairly cautious approach as they look to frustrate Real Madrid.

JUVENTUS v LYON – Click here to bet

This tie is interestingly poised after Lyon won 1-0 at home back on the 26th of February.

Juventus won all 3 of their home matches in the Group Stages including a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, but their recent League form has been quite poor by their standards. Lyon will need to improve on their Group Stage away form which saw them lose 2 and win 1 of their 3 matches and the last time Lyon visited Juventus was in 2016 when they drew 1-1.

Betting:

Juventus 9/20

Draw 71/20

Lyon 6/1

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Lyon (+1) at 7/4

Juventus certainly have the pedigree, but I don’t think they are playing that well and believe Lyon can take something from this and in so doing book themselves a quarter-final spot.
