Friday 1st May Rajasthan Royals v Delhi Capitals
Venue: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Match Result Betting: Royals 0.61/1 Capitals 1.32/1
The Royals are well placed with 6 wins and 3 defeats against their name. Last time out they became the first team to beat Punjab Kings this season, coming out on top by 6 wickets in Mullanpur. The Kings posted 222/4 but the Royals and the Royals chased it down with 4 balls to spare with the main contributions coming from opening pair Jaiswal (51) and Sooryavanshi (43) before Donovan Ferreira (52 not out) and Dubey (31 not out) took them home.
The Capitals have lost each of their last 3 matches and their overall record now comprises of 3 wins and 5 defeats. They ran into teams in top form in going down away to the Sunrisers and at home to Punjab Kings before a total capitulation in a 9 wicket loss at home to RCB last time out where they were bowled out for just 75.
The only match staged at this venue so far was a high scoring game as the Royals 228/6 was chased down by the Sunrisers 229/5 with 9 balls to spare. With that in mind I’m looking for a highest individual score of 72 runs or more.
Bets: Highest individual score over 71.5 at 9/10 with Pokerbet
Saturday 2nd May Chennai Super Kings v Mumbai Indians
Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
Match Result Betting: CSK evens Mumbai Indians 8/10
CSK are below half way in the standings with a record of 3 wins and 5 defeats. They have recovered from losing their first 3 matches to some degree but remain hard to catch right as illustrated by their 2 most recent outings, a 103 run hiding dished out to Mumbai Indians away from home followed by an 8 wicket loss to the Titans at this venue where their bat first total of 158/7 proved nowhere near enough.
Mumbai hosted the Sunrisers last time out and a 6 wicket defeat leaves them with a record of just the 2 wins alongside 6 losses which at the time of writing had them second bottom on the log. Ryan Rickelton hit an unbeaten 123 against the Sunrisers with opening partner Will Jacks making 46 in their total of 243/5 but it chased down with 8 balls to spare.
In the recent clash between these sides in Mumbai the Super Kings posted 207/6 (Samson 101) and Mumbai were bowled out for just 104 with Akeal Hosein returning figures of 4/17.
The MI batting needs to fire again but this time the bowlers also have to step up to the plate as well as their season is almost at the tipping point. I think MI’s firepower will see them through and I’ll back them on the board.
Bets: MI to win at 8/10 with Pokerbet
Sunday 3rd May Sunrisers Hyderabad v Kolkata Knight Riders
Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
Match Result Betting: Sunrisers 0.53/1 KKR 15/10
The Sunrisers were in action away to Mumbai Indians last time out and they came through a 6 wicket win, their fifth consecutive victory and a sixth in total. Mumbai piled on 243/5 batting first but the Sunrisers got off to a cracking start to the chase through Sharma (45) and Head (76) and Klaasen was unbeaten on 65 when SH got home in 18.4 overs. The Sunrisers lost their first match of the tournament at this venue but have since reeled off 3 wins with some big scores.
After starting their tournament with 5 defeats and 1 no result KKR have put themselves on the board with back to back wins. They opened their account with a 4 wicket home win over Rajasthan Royals and followed up with a Super Over victory away to Lucknow Super Giants. KKR posted 155/7 in Lucknow with Rinku Singh unbeaten with 83 off 51 balls. LSG tied the scores after Arora, Green and Narine kept the lid on the asking rate and Narine took 2 wickets for KKR in the super Over. The Knight Riders now bid to turn things around with the Sunrisers who beat them by 65 runs at Eden Gardens back in Match 6.
The Sunrisers are the form side right now and whilst their batting his been top draw, they also have Pat Cummins back in action to bolster the bowling and he gets the vote to be top SH wicket taker.
Bets: Sunrisers top wicket taker, Pat Cummins at 7/2 with WSB
Sunday 3rd May Gujarat Titans v Punjab Kings
Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
Match Result Betting: Titans Kings
The Titans most recent action came at home to RCB and we will update this preview when the outcome of that match is known.
Punjab Kings suffered their first defeat of the tournament in what was their eighth outing when they went down to the Royals by 6 wickets in a home fixture. They posted 22/4 with Singh (59) and Stoinis (62 not out) the top scorers but the Royals chased it down with 4 balls remaining (Chahal returned figures of 3/36 for the Kings). The Kings now look to complete the double over the Titan’s whom they beat by 3 wickets in Mullanpur in what was the first action of the tournament for both these sides.
