Just the four English Premier League matches take place on Saturday when the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all in action and we have a play in each game.
Prices quoted are correct at the time of publication but subject to change.
Chelsea v Everton
Chelsea were beaten 2-1 away to Atalanta in the UCL in Tuesday and they have also dropped points in each of their last 3 league games. To be fair they played with 10 men for a big chunk of their 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal in their most recent outing at Stamford Bridge but they were below par in a subsequent 3-1 defeat at Leeds and last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Bournemouth which has seen them slip out of the top 4.
Everton are in their best form of the season with 4 wins in their last 5 and last weekend’s 3-0 home victory over Forest helped them finish the round in seventh place, only 1 point behind Chelsea. They are unbeaten in their last 3 road trips, a 1-1 draw at Sunderland followed by 1-0 wins at Man United and Bournemouth.
I wouldn’t estimate Everton here given they are in form and Chelsea have had a dip in results plus their midweek exertions in the UCL. Gut feel is this could be tight and I’ll go with no more than a single goal in both halves of football.
Bet: Both halves less than 1.5 total goals, yes at 1.45/1 with Pokerbet
Liverpool v Brighton
Liverpool have drawn their last 2 league games against newly promoted sides, at home to Sunderland (1-1) and away at Leeds (3-3) but they received a timely boost in midweek with a 1-0 win at Inter in the UCL. Although it’s very congested in their part of the log Liverpool are no higher than tenth, only 3 points of a top 4 spot but 10 adrift of league leaders Arsenal and in their last 10 league games they have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 6.
Mo Salah has been dropped to the bench recently and after making his feelings known he was left out of the squad for the midweek visit to Milan. He is also due to depart for the AFCON after this game and at the time of writing it remains to be seen whether he will be involved.
Brighton hit the road again after dropping points in two home games, a 4-3 defeat to Villa (they led 2-0) and last weekend they needed a late equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham. They are ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and their two away wins this season came at Chelsea and Forest.
I need to shake a double six to catch a Liverpool game right these days but I think they will score here and after he was benched /rotated for the UCL win at Inter in midweek I’ll side with Florian Wirtz to finally get his goal.
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Wirtz at 33/10 with Pokerbet
Burnley v Fulham
Burney’s 2-1 defeat at Newcastle last weekend was a sixth straight loss and they remain on 10 points, second from bottom but now 3 points shy of third bottom West Ham and 5 adrift of Forest and Leeds.
Fulham went down 2-1 at home to Palace last time out and are fifteenth in the standings, 7 points better off than their opponents here. A 2-1 win at Spurs in their most recent road trip and a point at Brighton on the opening weekend were very decent results but 5 other road trips have ended in defeat.
Burnley look in big trouble but 3 of their next 4 are home games, starting with this one against a talented Fulham side but one which has been vulnerable when travelling. This could easily go pear shaped but I’ll give the hosts a punchers chance.
Bet: Burnley to win at 3/1 with Pokerbet
Arsenal v Wolves
Arsenal went down to a late goal (2-1) at Villa last weekend, only their second defeat of the season and one which saw their lead over Man City at the top of the standings trimmed to 2 points with Villa a point further back in third. The Gunners have won 6 of 7 home games alongside a 1-1 draw with Man City and Spurs, who lost 4-1 here, are the only other side to score a league goal against the Gunners at The Emirates this season.
Wolves went down 4-1 at home to Man United on Monday, a first goal in 4 games under Rob Edwards but an eighth straight defeat which sees them remain on just 2 points from 15 games. They have avoided defeat in North London this season, drawing 1-1 at Spurs were they were denied victory by a late equalizer but that was some time ago, and it’s been hard to find any positives since then.
A one sided betting heat and as far as player / goalscorer markets are concerned it’s a bit of a conundrum to predict the Arsenal line up given a heavy schedule and a number of players having just returned from injury or nursing a knock. Given Saka only featured for the last 20 mins or so of their midweek UCL win at Brugge and with their lead at the top of the log cut to 2 points, I think Arteta will start him and he gets the “anytime” vote
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Saka at 5/4 with Sportingbet
