We take a look at all five English Premier League matches taking place on Sunday including Crystal Palace v Manchester City and Sunderland v Newcastle
Prices quoted are correct at the time of publication but subject to change.
Crystal Palace v Man City
Palace are up to fourth on the back of 3 wins in their last 4. Those wins all came on the road against sides in the wrong half of the table, Wolves, Burnley and Fulham whilst their most recent home game saw them go down 2-1 to Man United.
City were 2-1 winners at Real Madrid in the UCL on Wednesday and they come into the EPL weekend in second place, just 2 points behind Arsenal (who host Wolves on Saturday) and 5 better off than their opponents here. They have won 8 and lost 2 o their last 10 league games, both those defeats came away from home at Villa and Newcastle.
Munoz is out for Palace who also have a couple of other injury doubts. They should still offer a very stern test for a City side who haven’t always fired away from home but I’m just about with the visitors to come out on top with Palace contributing to the scoring.
Bet: City to win and both teams to score? Yes at 9/4 with Pokerbet
Notts Forest v Spurs
Forest finished the previous round fourth from bottom, 2 points clear of third bottom West Ham. They went down 3-0 at Everton last weekend and also lost 2-0 to Brighton in their most recent home game but they have won 3 of their last 5.
Spurs were 3-0 winners at home to Slavia Prague in the UCL on Tuesday, building on recent improvement which saw them draw 2-2 at Newcastle and a 2-0 win in a home game against Brentford. A tally of 14 points from 7 road trips is the third best away record in the top flight and they finished the previous round in the thick of the id table region with 22 points.
A tricky game to call although I was tempted to go for Spurs. However preference is for a corners bet and with some useful wide players on both sides I'm with 11 or more.
Bet: Total corners over 10.5 at 9/10 with Pokerbet
Sunderland v Newcastle
A huge Wear / Tyne derby will have pulses racing in the North East. Both these teams finished the previous round either side of half way on the log with Sunderland 1 point better off than their rivals.
Sunderland are unbeaten at home with 4 wins and 3 draws. Those wins came against sides currently below them in the standings and in their most recent outing at the Stadium of Light they came from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2. Since then they picked up a very good point at Liverpool but last weekend’s trip to Man City proved a bridge to far as they went down 3-0.
Newcastle conceded another late goal in a 2-2 draw at Leverkusen in the UCL on Wednesday. Recent league form is solid with 10 points earned from the last 12 available which includes a 4-1 win at Everton, their only victory away from home in the EPL so far.
What a game this promises to be but its very tricky to call in my book. I'll look to the player shots on target market and I like the price of Dan Ballard, a major threat at set pieces for Sunderland.
Bet: Player shots on target, Dan Ballard, 1 or more at 9/4 with Pokerbet
West Ham v Aston Villa
West Ham have drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 4. The draws came away from home at Bournemouth, Man United and most recently Brighton but they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in their most recent home game. West Ham have beaten Newcastle and Burnley in other home fixtures and they finished Round 15 third from bottom, 2 points behind Forest and Leeds.
Villa are now being spoken of as potential title challengers on the back of 9 wins in their last 10 league games. That sequence includes home wins over Man City and most recently Arsenal whilst on the road victory at Spurs, Leeds and Brighton have seen them move up to third, 1 point behind City and 3 shy of Arsenal.
Villa are in such great form right now but with the exception of their home defeat to Liverpool West Ham have put up some decent efforts lately. Bowen was on target for me last week and I'm sticking with home to find the net any time.
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Jarrod Bowen at 32/10 with Pokerbet
Brentford v Leeds
Brentford have earned 16 of their 19 points in front of their own supporters and they return home after a pair of 2-0 defeats in North London, at Arsenal and Spurs. They have won each of their last 3 home fixtures against Liverpool, Newcastle and Burnley and earlier in the season Man United and Villa also lost here.
Leeds are enjoying a welcome change of fortune after a 3-1 home win over Chelsea was followed by a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in another home fixture. They finished the previous round 2 points clear of the drop zone and now look to improve an away record which includes a victory at bottom of the table Wolves and 6 defeats.
The return to home turf offers Brentford the opportunity to return to winning ways although Leeds have a couple of really good results under their belt. Mikkel Damsgaard as at the heart of much is what is good about Brentford and I'm with him as a speculative anytime goalscorer play.
Bet: Anyime goalscorer Damsgaard at 13/2 with Sportingbet
