Sunday’s English Premier League double header comprises of Coventry vs Brighton in the earlier kick off to be followed by the Manchester derby between United and City at Old Trafford
Coventry vs Brighton
Coventry are 1 of 2 sides (Fulham being the other) who lost each of their first 3 league games. On the opening weekend when they went down 3-0 at Arsenal and that was followed by a 1-0 home defeat to Hull who had finished way behind them in the Championship last season. However, despite losing 1-0 away to Man City last weekend there were many more positives with Coventry creating plenty of chances.
It’s been a mixed start for Brighton who dished out a 4-0 hiding to Villa in an opening weekend home fixture. They eventually went down 4-3 away to Chelsea in Round 2 having trailed 3-0 just after the half hour mark and last weekend they drew 1-1 at home to Leeds.
Verdict
Coventry improved leaps and bounds last week which makes this tough in my book. I’ll go with full back come winger Maxime De Cuyper to assist.

Man United vs Man City
United marked their return to the UCL with a more than comfortable 4-0 home win over rank outsiders Sabah Baku in midweek and they return to league action with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat against their name. United were way off it in their 2-0 defeat at Hull on the opening weekend but they bounced back with aa 5-2 win over Ipswich with Bruno Fernades scoring a hat trick. Last weekend they twice led Everton away from home but the game finished 2-2 with United conceding in the 96th minute.
City also won their first UCL match of the League Phase in midweek, 2-0 away to Porto. After 3 rounds of matches City and Arsenal are the two sides with the maximum 9 points, City have the better goal difference but the Gunners are in action a day before this game away to Sunderland. City needed two late goals to come from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 in an opening weekend home fixture before a 4-1 win at Palace. Last weekend they struggled at times at home to newly promoted Coventry but still came through with a 1-0 win.
Verdict
I really fancy goals here and probably for both sides but the odds of reward are on the short side to where I play. I’ll just have a nibble at 2-2 correct core.
