Aston Villa vs Notts Forest
A 4-0 defeat at Brighton with all the goal coming in the first half was a really poor start for Villa but next time out they were much more competitive at home to Arsenal despite the 1-0 defeat. Their first EPL point came from a 0-0 draw at Hull last week and in midweek they gave themselves a much needed boost with a 3-2 win at Brugge in the UCL.
Forest are sixteenth, 1 place and 1 point better off than Villa. They drew 0-0 at home to Spurs last week and in their only road trip so far they led twice (Ndoye, Gibbs-White) away to Liverpool but were pegged back in a 2-2 draw. That was a much improved display from the 1-1 draw at home to Leeds on the opening weekend.
Verdict
Forest have only scored in the one league game so far but I can see them scoring at some stage here whether they win, lose or draw and Gibbs – White would be as likely as anyone.

Bournemouth vs Brentford
Bournemouth have drawn 2 and lost 1 of their matches but in many ways they are unlucky not to have won all 3. They threatened a surprise away to Man City on the opening weekend but 2 late goals for City saw them go down 2-1. Next time out they played out a 1-1 draw at home to Everton, a game they led from just before half time until the 91st minute. Last weekend Bournemouth were 2-0 up at Newcastle but once again a late equalizer turned 3 points into 1.
Brentford are unbeaten with 1 win and 2 draws and they finished Round 3 in fifth place after playing out a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland. They were impressive in putting Spurs away 3-0 in their opening game and in their only road trip they dominated the first half at Leeds but the hosts fought back and it ended 1-1.
Verdict
Bournemouth need to kick this habit of conceding late but these sides look evenly matched to me, both have drawn 2 from 3 so far and I wouldn’t be surprised if this also ended all square.

Chelsea vs Hull
Chelsea are fourth with 2 wins and 1 defeat. They took maximum points from their first 2 games, a 3-2 win at Fulham and a 4-3 home win over Brighton. They took an early lead at arsenal last week but the Gunners hit back to turn it around and win 2-1. In midweek Chelsea’s big attacking guns came off the bench to help them come from 2-0 down to beat Leeds 6-3 in the EFL Cup.
Hull remain unbeaten with 7 points from 3 matches and they finished Round 3 in third place. After a 2-0 win at home to Man United was followed by a 1-0 victory away to Coventry they played out a 0-0 draw at home to Villa last weekend. In midweek they lost an EFL Cup tie 1-0 at Sunderland and that is the only goal they have conceded this season.
Verdict
Hull’s start is jaw dropping but that Chelsea front 3 of Pedro / Palmer and Morgan will take some shackling.

Crystal Palace vs Ipswich
Palace opened their points account last weekend with a 3-2 London derby win away to Fulham. They lost their first 2 league games 2-0 away to Everton first up and 4-1 to Man City in their first home fixture. In midweek Palace were 3-0 winners at home to Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup.
Ipswich started with a 2-1 home win over Sunderland before suffering back to back defeats, 5-2 away to Man United and 2-0 at home to Liverpool.
Verdict
This game makes limited appeal but I will go with Strand Larson to score any time for Palace.

Liverpool vs Fulham
Liverpool look to be gaining momentum and in midweek they came from behind to beat Atletico 2-1 in a UCL home fixture. Two very early goals from Isak gave them a 2-0 win at Ipswich in their most recent EPL outing which had been preceded by draws at home to Forest and away to Newcastle (both 2-2).
Fulham are still looking for their first point of the new EPL season after a 3-2 home defeat to Chelsea was followed by a 1-0 loss at Sunderland and 3-2 home defeat to Palace, after which they were booed off by their fans.
Verdict
Fulham are really battling and although Liverpool have made a habit of scoring exactly twice, I fancy them to rattle up 3 goals or more here.

Spurs vs Everton
Spurs got their first point at the third time of asking after a 0-0 draw away to Forest last weekend. They lost both of their opening matches, never at the races in a 3-0 defeat at Brentford first up and they seemed to lose their way as the game wore on in a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle in Round 2.
Everton are unbeaten with 5 points to show for their first 3 matches. They began with a 2-0 home win over Palace and next time out a 91st minute equalizer earned them a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. Last weekend they played out a 2-2 draw at home to Man United, fighting back from 1-0 and 2-1 down in a game that was full of late drama.
Verdict
Yet to score in the EPL the pressure is on Spurs. I think this will be competitive and gut feel is we could see plenty of corners, hopefully 7 or more for Spurs.

Sunderland vs Arsenal
Sunderland have improved with every league game. After losing 2-1 at Ipswich first up they beat Fulham 1-0 in their only EPL home game so far and they might have been a touch unfortunate to only come away from Brentford with a point from a 1-1 draw after dominating the first half. In midweek a much changed side were 1-0 winner at home to Hull in the EFL Cup.
Arsenal’s perfect start to the season continued in midweek when they were 1-0 winners away to Napoli in the first round of UCL League Phase matches. As far as EPL form is concerned a 3-0 home win over Coventry, 1-0 win at Villa and last weekend’s 2-1 home win over Chelsea see Arsenal in second place behind Man City on goal difference.
Verdict
I think Sunderland can give arsenal a game and contribute to the scoring. I’m also sticking with Enzo Le Fee any time after he came through for me a nice price at Brentford last weekend.
