Just the one English Premier League match takes place on Sunday but it’s a big one as Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield. We examine a number of betting options open to punters but then come up with a straight forward bet.
Liverpool
Liverpool were 2-0 winners at home to Brighton in the EPL last weekend and finished the previous round in fourth place with 15 points, 6 behind Man City and also their opponents here and 1 shy of third placed Brighton (who visit City on Saturday). That win over Brighton ended a disappointing run of EPL results at Anfield for Liverpool including draws against Forest and Fulham and their only defeat this season (3-0) at the hands of Man City. In midweek Liverpool made numerous changes for the EFL Cup clash with Chelsea at Anfield which finished 1-1 and they held their nerve to come through a marathon penalty shoot out. It will be back to UCL action in midweek with a visit to Fenerbahce on Wednesday and Liverpool are 1 of 5 teams who have started that competition with 3 wins from 3.
Arsenal
Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 at The Emirates last week to join Man City on 21 points at the top of the log although City have the better goal difference. The Gunners have won 7 of 8 league games with the only blip coming in a 3-0 loss at Brighton. There was however a huge jolt awaiting in midweek when they lost a penalty shot out away to minnows Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup, a jaw dropping outcome as despite ringing the changes Arsenal still called upon some top players. Arsenal will be also be in UCL action on Wednesday when they head to Slavia Prague and they are going well in that competition, unbeaten with a couple of wins and a draw away to Bayern Munich
The Betting
Liverpool are trading at 39/20 with the draw at 12/5 and Arsenal can be backed at around 13/10
A game of 3 goals or more is ??? and it’s ??? for both teams to score.

A Few Stats:
Looking at card markets Andy Madley is the referee and he has shown 12 yellows in his 3 EPL matches so far this season and has yet to show a red.
Looking at the corners markets Liverpool average 4.25 per match across their 4 EPL home games whilst Arsenal have been awarded 4.5 on average in their 4 EPL road trips.
Verdict:
I love a good stat or two and enjoy looking far and wide to identify a bet that can be justified with some data but sometimes you can’t beat a good aold ashioned gut feel pick and just keep it simple.
Liverpool have done well at home in Europe but up until last week’s win over brighton they hadn’t replicated that in the EPL. I get the impression they are growing as a team by the week and I fancy they can nick this.
Bet: Liverpool to win at 39/20 with Sportingbet
