Monday’s night English Premier League action comes from St. James Park, Newcastle host Everton and any winner will climb into the top 7 of the standings.
Newcastle
Newcastle will kick off just below half way on the log with 11 points. After back to back defeats at Coventry (4-1) and at home to Villa (1-0) they were 2-0 winners at Palace last week but they couldn’t follow up in the EFL Cup on Thursday when they lost 3-1 to tonight’s opponents Everton on Merseyside. That loss to Villa is their only defeat at home this season, earlier home games against Liverpool and Bournemouth both finished 2-2 and they beata Hull 2-1.
Everton
Everton are 1 point and 2 places below Newcastle on the log but a win here would also see them move up to seventh. They have lost their last 2 league games, 2-0 at home to Chelsea and 2-0 at Arsenal whilst another recent road trip to Hull ended in a 2-2 draw. They also drew at Bournemouth (1-1) and Spurs (0-0) earlier in the season so they are still looking for an away win. Garner, Hackney and Barry were on target in the midweek EFL Cup win over Newcastle though Jack Grealish was left out for disciplinary reasons. and last season Everton won this fixture 3-2
The Betting
Newcastle are trading at 6/5 with the draw at 5/2 and Everton can be backed at around 11/5
A game of 3 goals or more is 7/10 and it’s 11/20 for both teams to score.
Price boosts from Sportingbet include Wissa to score the first goal of the game at 13/2 from 21/4 and Will Osula to have 2 or more shots on target at 39/20 from 16/10
Verdict:
Everton were clear cut winners in last week’s cup game, they have yet to win away but I think they can pick Newcastle off a couple of times.
