I’m battling to find my rhythm in the internationals at the moment. While I landed unders in France v South Africa and the tribet in Italy v Australia, there were a few small wins mixed with a bigger loss on England overs, and overall this one went to the bookmakers. The Week 3 Betting Blog is up, and here are my projected handicaps for the key matches this coming weekend:
  • Italy +16.5 v South Africa
  • England +4.5 v New Zealand
  • Ireland -8.5 v Australia
  • Scotland -2.5 v Argentina
I look forward to your thoughts and early leans.

Betting is out and I see England vs NZ and Scotland vs Argentina are both basically choice games. I like both home teams to win there.

Score flattered NZ against Scotland. NZ didn't impress me. Argentina also got some very soft tries against Wales.

If you take out the tries from missed tackles and needless offside penalties then Wales would have won!! :-)

Score flattered England too I think - thought they were poor for the most part.

Australia +13 my early strong play.

Ikitau and Skelton should be back. Skelton in particular has given Ireland and Irish club teams huge problems before and our best answer to him (Joe McCarthy) is out injured

Ireland’s attack is so turgid at the moment I struggle to see them going past 30 points. 20-25 is a realistic shout and it’s very difficult to cover +13 if you’re only scoring that.

@TheAdmiral

Just read that Skelton is unavailable for the final 2 weekends due to an injury picked up playing for his club on Saturday.

Ye saw that news yesterday, very annoying. I’d argue it was a bit ridiculous he was playing a club game last week.

That definitely makes me less confident on the Aussies, but still like them to cover the cap.

I’ve also taken ABs win @ 2.2. I wanted to wait longer for more money on England but Chesham and Freeman are major doubts and Scott Barrett looks like he’ll be fit, so I expect the money to come more the New Zealand now.

argentina over 22.5 pts @ 9/10

even in defeat in 2025 the argies have troubled opponents in most games, i expect them to stick to the attacking approach this weekend. do like the plus 3.5 but will stick with team points only for now.

Japan over 20.5 points onto Italy over 17.5 points at 26/10

Like this double strong

Jac Morgan out so nobody to slow Japan's ball. Would not be surprised if Japan win the game.

Italy have shown that they can score points. Quality side.

Ireland v Australia
Aus were +13.5pts which has reeled in to +11.5pts
I've seen nothing to suggest that Ireland can beat Aus by 12pts or more. Lions hangover/ huge reliance on a Leinster side yet to hit their straps.
Australia coming off a loss to Italy so expect a reaction there.
Australia +11.5pts for me
