Rugby Championship Week 5, URC Rd 1, NPC wk 9, Prem, Top 14 + other rugby

The Griquas were the highlight of my weekend. Not only did they land the small play on the +23.5 handicap, but more importantly they delivered on the long-term 25/1 outright — what a dramatic finish that was.

This week the Rugby Championship returns, and the early handicaps have been out for a while:

• New Zealand -12.5 v Australia
• South Africa -15.5 v Argentina (slightly in from -16.5)

The URC blog is also up and running, with outright prices and Week 1 fixtures available. I don’t have a strong feel for the tournament yet and will wait for the bookmakers’ handicaps before getting involved.

On top of that, there’s Gallagher Premiership, Bunnings NPC, and Top 14 action to look forward to, so plenty of rugby betting to keep us busy.

Northland +11.5 ha @1.87 2u

Very poor my form this season in NPC but I have to take this line, Canterbury with a much rotated lineup while Northland going average. Line to me should be around 3-4 points advantage to Canterbury so value here in the home side.

La Rochelle -17.5 ha @1.80 2u

Big rotation expected Usap (Beria, Lotrian, Brookes, Yato, Le Corvec, Veredamu, Paaiaua, Duguivalu) plus important injuries (McIntyre, Tuilagi, Velarte, Tedder) so lineup far away from the strongest one. La Rochelle not the best compo but still strong and didn´t play last week due to storm in Toulon so fresh. My expected line around 23-24 points advantage to La Rochelle so value here in the home side.

But I'm following this forum for around 15 years, great guys,great insight, great tips...like the Griquas last week 🤞🏻I know the sport, but I'm far from an insider, that's why I read here on a weekly basis.

Felt like I need a little "rant" to calm down after that NPC game.

Once in a while, or maybe more often it feels the bookies are unbeatable, or maybe it just feels like that when there occurs a  "bad beat".

Decided to jump on Tasman handicaps, and jumped on one more line early in play, when they were up 12-0

Well they led 41-7 at halftime the line like around -41.5.

Southland made two early tries in the 2nd half, and they kept trading tries ...with the final result: 38-55

I had -17.5, -19.5, -24.5 ...😵‍💫

I mean sometimes you wonder how it lands exactly on the line, with the way the game played out. And Southland making the final try, with conversion to kill all my bets.

Didn't expect to lose all the bets at ht.

Sorry for the rant 😅🫣

Phew Chris that is ugly, but don't feel alone we have all experienced some incredible turnarounds and I must say generally for the worst .

Fired SA over 4.5 tries @ 10/11. Think Boks go for bonus point and don’t take 3’s, may need to score a few extra tries if pumas get a couple. 

Similar theme. Think NZ know they need tries for bonus pt and also with big home crowd they try show intent early.

Wow All Blacks terrible after first 25 min. 

im all in on Boks over 4.5 tries but the way my luck is going we get a red card in first minute and it 0% rain forecast in Durban changes to heavy showers by kick off. 

A good start to the URC (never expected the Stormers punt to be stress free) and Aus plus lands but I reckon they were on the wrong end of a lot of calls ands really pulling for the to win
