WSB have released the CT 7s outright markets:

BB 1/1
NZ 28/10
Fiji 33/10
Eng 14/1
Aus 22/1
USA 33/1
Fra 50/1
Arg 80/1
Samoa 100/1

With pool A being the pool of death, the value definitely lies therein as if any of the teams make it out the pool, they won't meet each other again until the final.
In saying that, the BB are very short at 1/1 so I won't be touching them pre tournament (although I got on bet.co.za black friday bet boost of BB to win ct 7s at 6/1). Whoever tops pool A has a cruise to the final, thus it's tough to look past Fiji and it's almost rude not to think about USA at 33/1.
NZ are a good shout at 28/10 but are destined to meet whoever comes 2nd in pool A in the semis.
The big value probably lies in France or England. Whoever tops that pool should make it through to the semis. England have a knack of beating the BB too.

Thanks LLP. Not a student of 7's but seem to recall the BB's record in Cape Town has generally seen a spike in tissue sales so will take
England @ 14/1
and look to cover at the pointy end.

Caps for Champions Cup this weekend:

Harlequins v Ulster (choice)
Racing 92 -30 v Ospreys
Connacht -3 v Gloucester
Benetton +3 v Lyon
Montpellier +1 v Toulouse
Saracens -11 v Munster
Leinster -19 v Northampton
Glasgow -19 v La Rochelle
Exeter -16 v Sale
Clermont -21 v Bath

Took Exeter -13 yesterday when BF opened and I see its -18 with some books.

Other than that I think most caps are well set (pre team news being available anyway).
Brent's advice to tread carefully is perhaps very sound......

Cape Town 7s group stage odds

Pool A
SA 1.55
Fij 2.85
US 11
Jap 151

Pool B
NZ 1.15
Arg 5.5
Can 34
Wal 51

Pool C
Eng 1.35
Fra 3.5
Sco 29
Spa 34

Pool D
Aus 1.65
Sam 2.75
Ken 10
Ire 34

I like the Australia outright on the pool stage but the fact that they lost agains Sanoa in quarter final last week end tends to stop me for the time being

First round odds

Aus -11.5 vs Ire - 39.5
Sam -4.5 vs Ken - 35.5
Fra -11.5 vs Spa - 37.5
Eng -14.5 vs Sco - 38.5
Arg -4.5 vs Can - 37.5
NZ -25.5 vs Wal - 39.5
Fiji -8.5 vs USA - 37.5
SA -30.5 vs Jap - 39.5

I also like the Arg -4.5

@LiveLovePunt : between France and England I would rather go with England – the fact that Terry Bouhraoua is out is a huge blow for the French side

Fired Glasgow -18.5 @ 10/11 Sunbet.

Expecting La Rochelle to be understrength, shift their focus to Top14 games. Glasgow will want a 5 pointer. Am all over them.

Roll on the 7s!!! I am rubber stamping the Argies -4.5 against Canada! You can get 8/10 at Playa

Argentina went 4-0 ATS in Dubai and think they will cover this spread against the Canooks.

My futures picks for the sevens are:

$4.60 Fiji-I think the'll be looking to bounce back (just like they did last year when they failed to make the semis in Dubai and then won Cape Town). The new format meant that Fiji had to only play four games in Dubai versus six for New Zealand, South Africa, England and Samoa. Fatigue often plays a factor in back up legs.

France women I took at $12-they offer the best value IMO. Only had to play four games last weekend while the top four teams all had to play six, and with their upset win over New Zealand last week, they demonstrated that they have what it takes to beat the best. The women have never played a back-to-back tournament before, so this will likely be even more trying for the women than the men.

I also think Kenya will be value in a number of their games this tournament. Yes, they didn't win a pool game, but they weren't out of their depth in any of their games, and could easily have won every game they lost.

For those interested in creating middle lines, William Hill released their 7s markets with high points lines relative to the SA bookies.

CT 7s is generally a high scoring one, however there are a few notably high points lines:

Fra v Spain 41.5 points - this game hasn't gone over 41.5 in the last 12 H2Hs
Eng v Sco 44.5 points - this game has only gone over 44.5 in 1/8 last H2Hs
NZ v wales 44.5 points - this game hasn't gone over 44.5 in the last 9 H2Hs

I've put a small acca on Ulster -2.5 / Munster W / Toulouse W @ 15.57 - Sunbet.

I figure Sarries eye will be on their Bristol game next week and Munster want it more, and Toulouse up for it too.

Number too big for my greed to ignore

Have just seen Japan team news - they've made 7 changes, 2 debutants and 3 guys with 1 tournament in total. 9 members in their squad have played <10 tournaments, while only two players with >15 tournaments.

SA know this group may come down to points difference. Further, Friday is a one-game-day and the BB will want to produce for the home fans.

It looks like O'Gara isn't going to do a full swap out based on press comments, i guess a different approach to usual French coach stance when gets to this stage. But will still keep this as a firm bet, even if i don't think cap will move out much (might even come in a pt or 2 depending on team).
