All Tennis Tips w/c 12th October was created by Quill
I thought I may have some time to post a few tips here this week, before I go away for the weekend.

St Petersburg

Donskoy vs Gerasimov

Donskoy has been playing here for many years, but with poor results, only 4-4 his win-loss record.
Gerasimov reached the semifinals here last year.
He's been playing good tennis too, and at the French Open he pushed Nadal the most of all that Nadal played against, in a 4-6 4-6 2-6 defeat. He's a big serving player and the indoor conditions should suit him.

Donskoy is in no form at the moment.

Bet 1: Gerasimov 2-0 @1.95
Bet 2: Gerasimov -2.5 @1.80

Looking at the draw here, I notice that Ruud has a good chance of reaching the final. He is seeded number 3. Number 1 is Fognini, who is in the other half of the draw. Number 2 is Lajovic, who is not really in form, and he is still up there because of last year's final at Monte Carlo Masters. Djere is another known player in Ruud's half, but he is also not in the same form like when he won in Rio last year. Anyway, if Djere wins his first round match he will play Lajovic. Djere and Lajovic are in the 4th quarter. Ruud is in the 3rd quarter.

Ruud is very good on clay. He reached the semifinals in Rome and Hamburg and the third round at the French Open. The opponents here are not that strong. Ruud has a bye in the first round, so he has to win only 3 matches to get to the final, and only 2 to win his quarter.

He should at least win his quarter if not play the final in Cagliari.

Bet 1: To win 3rd Quarter - Ruud @2.10, bet365
Bet 2: To win outright 1/2 2 places (E/W) - Ruud @4.33, sportsbet.com.au (bet365 has it @4.00).

Altmaier vs Laaksonen

Altmaier reached the 4th round at the French Open

Laaksonen has not been in great form since tennis restarted, he hasn't impressed so far.
Altmaier should be able to take care of business at home in Germany.

St Petersburg

Pospisil vs Rublev
Rublev is continuing where he left off before the lockdown, having reached the quarter-finals at both the US Open and the French Open.

Bet: Altmaier + Rublev @2.40

Carballes-Baena (Spain) vs Coria (Arg)

Both players reached the third round at the French Open, but Carballes-Baena had stronger competition than Coria. The Spaniard dispatched Johnson in 3 quick sets, defeated an in-form Shapovalov and retired injured from his match against Dimitrov.

Coria had to face Jung, an out of form Paire and lost to Sinner.
The odds are tempting to take the Spaniard.

Bet 1: Carballes-Baena @2.16
Bet 2: Carballes-Baena +1.5 @1.92

Djere vs Nagal

These two players met last week in Parma Challenger, where Djere won in 3 tight sets.
The Indian player squandered a 4-0 lead in the first set and later lost the deciding set from a break lead. Nagal went through qualifications here, so now he is used to the conditions and should be confident in his chances for revenge.

Bet 1: Nagal +3.5 @1.80
Bet 2: Over 21.5 games @1.83

Paire vs Novak

Paire has gone through some tough times due to being diagnosed with Covid (travel issues, tournament issues in the past few weeks, being scheduled to play the day he arrived from the States, etc.) he hasn't had good results since resumption. He managed to get a single win, at the French Open.
Because of this, although he is ranked 26th, he is treated like a (under) dog here to Novak (94th).
If a player has gone through tough times and has had a poorer period of play, doesn't mean that the respective player will forever post poor results. He should snap out of it sooner or later.

He would have had enough time now to gather himself.
Plus, Paire is very good on indoor hard courts, he won some titles and got good results in the past.

Bet 1: Paire @2.37
Bet 2: Paire +2.5 @1.90

Musetti vs Pellegrino

Musetti is in great form on clay nowadays. He had a great run in Rome, coming from qualifications and reaching the third round there, defeating Wawrinka and Nishikori. Then he went on to win the Challenger at Forli and this week he defeated Pablo Cuevas in the first round.

Pellegrino is lucky to be here, as he came from qualifications and in the first round he won via retirement (Travaglia got injured).

Musetti 2-0 @1.83
Musetti -4.5 @1.86

Safiulin vs Coric
Ivashka vs Shapovalov

Shapovalov reached the quarterfinal at the US Open and the semifinal in Rome. He is now ranked 12.
Ivashka is a lowly ranked player, currently 141. He hasn't had any results worthy of mention.

Safiulin is ranked 199 and he won his first Challenger title in February. In the first round here he beat a Lucky Loser, Gomez, ranked 151.
Coric reached the quarter-finals at the US Open and in the first round here he beat Feliciano Lopez (he likes hard courts) 2-0.

Bet 1: Musetti 2-0 + Shapovalov 2-0 @2.92

Zverev vs Verdasco

Verdasco has been struggling for form recently and in the first round here he beat an out of sorts Murray in 2 sets.

Zverev is in great form. He played the final at the US Open and reached the 4th round at the French Open.

He should win in 2 sets, but the odds are low for that, so I'm going for total games.

Ramos vs Moutet

Ramos managed to get a win to snap out of his losing streak. He beat Mannarino at the French Open.

Moutet went for three rounds at the US Open, but was eliminated in the first round at the French Open. In the first round here he beat Tiafoe in two sets.

Although Moutet seems to be faring slightly better than Ramos these days, Ramos is vastly experienced on clay, so while a winner might be difficult to pick, I think this is going to be a longer match.

Medvedev vs Opelka

Two players with booming serve, each firing more than 20 aces in the first round (22 and 26 respectively).

Both are in good form. Medvedev reached the third round in Cincinnati and played the semifinal at the US Open.
Opelka reached the quarter-finals in Cincinnati, where he retired injured while leading Tsitsipas 6-5.

In two previous meetings between them, last year and 3 years ago, both matches went the distance and had 5 tie-breaks in 6 sets.

Bet: Over 23.5 games @2.04.

Raonic blasted 21 aces in his previous match here, when he beat Wolf in two sets, 7-6 6-1.
Raonic is known for his booming serve of over 200km/h and on the fast indoor hard court here I expect him to keep firing those aces in front of a less experienced player.

Bet: Raonic over 15.5 aces @1.72, sportsbet.com.au

Musetti vs Hanfmann

These players met two months ago when Hanfmann won in 3 sets.
Since then Musetti did very well in Rome Msters, where he bagelled Wawrinka and defeated Nishikori, and won the Challenger title in Forli.
Hanfmann was impressive in his 2-0 win against Ruud here.

Musetti should be able to take his revenge.

Opelka vs Coric

Opelka is impressive these days. He retired injured in the quarter-finals in Cincinnati, when leading Tsitsipas 6-5, and yesterday he defeated Medvedev, the local favourite.
Opelka enjoys playing on indoor hardcourts. In 2018 he was undefeated on this surface (9-0) and won 11 out of 14 matches in 2019. He won his first ATP Tour title on the indoor hardcourts in ATP New York last year.

Coric has had a friendly draw here so far, but Opelka will be a big step up in competition, compared to the previous two opponents that Coric faced. Moreover, Opelka will be full of confidence after yesterday's upset win.

Bet: Opelka @1.91

In the first two rounds here Novak beat Thompson and Paire in two sets each. Davidovich Fokina beat Ruusuvuori and Cilic.
One of them will reach the semifinal here, and based on their recent form it looks like a long match.
They met last month at the US Open and they played a 5-setter, Davidovich Fokina winning 3-2.

Albot vs Auger-Aliassime

Albot has had a poor year with 11 consecutive defeats until recently. Now he managed to get two wins at the same tournament for the first time in a very long time. He struggled to get those wins too, with unconvincing performances against lowly ranked players and facing many break points.

Auger-Aliassime on the other hand thrives on an indoor fast court. He played very well at the ATP Cup and he is 10-3 indoor this year, with two runner up places in Rotterdam and Marseille.
In his first match here, he dispatched Laaksonen in 2 quick sets without facing a single break point.

Zverev vs Fokina

Zverev is a regular at the business end of the big tournaments, winning titles every year.
For the up and coming youngster, Fokina, being in this semifinal is already a big achievement.
Zverev is very good on indoor hardcourts, he won in St Petersburg and Marseille, as well as the biggest title of his career, ATP World Tour Finals 2018.

These two players met last month at the US Open, when Zverev demolished Fokina 6-2 6-2 6-1, in 1.5 hours.

Coric vs Raonic

Raonic looks formidable here. He has not lost a set in the three matches here, and he had only one double fault. At the same time he blasted 45 aces while blowing his opponent off the court, including the very good local favourite Khachanov.
Also, Raonic has not given away a single break so far.
Raonic won 5 of his 8 titles on indoor hard courts, same like this one here.

Coric is playing very well too, but Raonic showed that he is on a mission.

ATP Cologne + ATP St Petersburg Finals

Zverev vs Auger Aliassime
Coric vs Rublev

Auger Aliassime is usually a bit more nervous when he plays finals. He played in 5 finals and he lost all of them.
As for his second serve he isn't doing too well, as he had 5 with Bautista Agut, 3 with Albot and 4 with Laaksonen.

Zverev is feeling very well in the indoor court conditions in Cologne.
As the top seed and title favorite, Zverev has simply taken care of business. He has dropped only one set, which he answered by winning his third set against Lloyd Harris 6-0.

Rublev is aiming for a spot at the World Tour Finals and by wining the title here he'll be almost assured of a spot there.
He is an amazing 33-7 this season with titles in Doha, Adelaide, and Hamburg plus quarterfinal performances at the two recent Grand Slams. Rublev has maintained his awesome form with victories this week over Vasek Pospisil, Ugo Humbert, Cameron Norrie and Denis Shapovalov.

These two players met three times before, Rublev leading 3-0.

The added incentive of qualification for the approaching Nitto ATP Finals should keep Rublev in every point as he aims to win his native tournament for the first time.

Bet: Zverev + Rublev @1.70
