The Sharks defended like champions to deliver the Newsletter Best Bet and overall a slightly profitable weekend for me.

All eyes though on this weekend and the opening 6 Nations matches - man I really look forward to some quality International Rugby

Lets start with a look at the outright prices at Sunbet

Ireland 7/5
France 13/8
England 9/2
Wales 10/1
Scotland 16/1
Italy 250/1

There are plenty of long term markets such as top points scorer where Sexton is a 9/4 fav and Player of the Tournament where Van der Flier looks a bit skinny at 4/1

Here are the current handicaps for round 1 matches

Wales +4.5 v Ireland
England -10.5 v Scotland
Italy +19.5 v France

Justin Tipuric 40/1

Opening weekend double:

Italy +21.5 @10/11

Boy its about time we hit a winning streak!

Trouble is, the 6N always throws up a surprise or two. I see the bookies are 'only' giving Wales a 6pt start, so at least they dont think that it will be much of a surprise if Wales win on Saturday.

Currently I'm thinking Wales +6 and the Jocks +10 and it would be a great Saturday for this Welshman if Wales and Scotland managed a win! :-)

Confident on Wales +6.5 ha @2 2u

Wales will be a diferent animal under Gatland's guidance. I expect a tight match so value on the home side. Welsh teams in nice form right now so I hope they bring the momentum to the national side.

Great shouts so far! I wanted to follow but my bookies not offering and Skybet gave me the boot many moons ago for just a few winners in a row on SA horse racing :-(

Sharks v Stormers Preview

Not confident but over 48.5 and Jantjies 1st try scorer at 25/1

Talking of SKY BET they seem to be the only book pricing up tournament drop goals in the 6 Nations - man I really want a bet and if anyone sports a local bookie with it I will open an account just to place it

WSB obliged by pricing up Total Successful Drop Goals - thanks guys

Under at 4/7
Over at 5/4

I am all over the overs here

A Wiki search suggests there was only 1 in 2022 and 0 in 2021 which explains the price but my theory and I formed this when watching Willemse drop goals for the Boks is that coaches are looking to the World Cup when a drop goal could win you a tight match or the tournament - I reckon we will see more attempts than in past seasons as they prepare for this

As a matter of interest 2019 a World Cup year looks like it had 2 - both from France

I am hoping some other books open as well as I want to empty out

Waiting on sharks stormers line from my bookie but hoping to be able to join on same line.

Good result on the 5/1 treble last night to give some ammo for todays rugga. Looking at overs at Twickenham 44.5 or 45.5 but waiting to see some latest photos from ground. Tempted by overs under roof in Cardiff just not sure about ref who can get too involved.

Dombrandt man of match Eng v Scot at best odds, hoping to find 10/1.

Proper over reaction to team news for me - Ireland far superior although felt ref was wildly inconsistent especially at ruck time

Scotland over 18.5 at 9/10 to get me out of a big hole

Spain vs Netherlands

This is part of the European Championship.
Spain has progressed a lot in rugby and last year they finished second in the group, ahead of Romania, whom they beat 38-21, and behind Georgia.

last year Spain beat the Netherlands 43-0.

Also last year, Romania beat the Netherlands 38-12 away.

I expect Spain to cover this handicap.

Bet: Spain -35.5 @1.80
