The latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the weekend 2nd to 4th October including the United Rugby Championship

Last week got off to the perfect start when the Friday night treble landed, and I woke up on Saturday morning in a very good mood.

As is often the case, though, I was unable to carry that momentum through Saturday. I still found a couple of winners and was up for the weekend heading into the final round of Presidents Cup action, but unfortunately the Internationals crumbled like the top Tennis Biscuit in the singles, and it was the bookies who finished ahead.

The low point of the weekend was certainly the unders play in Australia v South Africa, where 80 points were scored in one of the most incredible Test matches I have ever watched.

I had an Australia/South Africa half-time/full-time play, and it would have felt like absolute robbery had South Africa run the length of the field and scored the winning try. I would of taken it though.

There is now a bit of a break from the internationals, well, for South Africa at any rate, as there is the Bledisloe Cup starting next weekend. This week, of course, the focus is on the URC.

Weekend plays

Points at Ellis Park

We didn’t have points lines available during the show, but Johan (one of our regular listeners) and myself were adamant that if we could get a quote in the late 50s for Lions v Ospreys at Ellis Park, then overs would be the play.

I projected 57.5, and that is exactly where the line has opened. I do think this could be a high-scoring game. Even in a heavy defeat to the Sharks last weekend, the Ospreys still managed to score four tries, and I’m expecting something similar here.

3 units (1–5): Lions v Ospreys over 57.5 points with World Sports Betting

Do we go for another Friday night treble?

I would have, but one of my intended selections has shortened considerably.

That was under 48.5 points in Edinburgh v Stormers. I saw that the weather forecast looked poor and must have got on just in time because the line has now dropped to 42.5, so I’m going to leave it out of the newsletter plays.

We will still have a Friday night bet, though, and I’m going for Connacht to beat Benetton.

Connacht were, in my opinion, a little hard done by against the Stormers last week, not in terms of losing the game, but because the 14-point margin didn’t really reflect the match. I think they can bounce back by beating a Benetton side who were disappointing at home to the Dragons.

2.5 units (1–5): Connacht to win at 12/10 with Betxchange

Saturday multiple at 11/1

Let’s finish things off with a Saturday multiple across three of the remaining URC fixtures:

Dragons -3.5 at 0.93/1

Leinster to beat the Sharks at 17/10, despite the strength of the Sharks’ backline and bench

Bulls to beat Munster at 27/20

1 unit (1-5) at 11.25/1 with World Sports Betting

Other highlights this weekend

It has been a crazy week on the work front for me, and although I probably won’t be able to relax completely over the weekend, I’m certainly looking forward to socialising on both Friday and Saturday nights. With a bit of luck, I’ll get some exercise in as well, although I hear the books are offering long odds on that!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Cheers
