RACE 1
OCEAN FLAME has shown good improvement since relocating to the Eastern Cape. She flyjumped leaving the start last time, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. Her local debut effort when beaten a head by Genovefa catches the eye. The daughter of Erupt jumps from a good draw of two and if getting away on terms, she can shed her maiden tag.
ICONIC WINTER produced a decent local debut effort over this C&D. She should get a good run in transit from pole position and is one of the leading contenders.
IZANAMI did her best work late over 1400m on this course last time. She finished second in her penultimate effort over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the combination cannot be discounted.
RACE 2
TERMINAL VELOCITY set the pace over 2000m in her local debut and was touched off by Golden Croc. The daughter of Global View was reported to be fatigued that day. She has finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this distance. She has cracked pole position and can go one better.
ROYAL MERMAID found one too good in the form of Royal Missy last time. She gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. This is her peak outing and she cannot be discounted.
OH MANDY finished 6.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
RACE 3
HONORABLE MEMBER finished 0.1 lengths behind VIHAAN’S QUEEN last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Rabada carries a light mass of 50kgs and she may be rewarded for consistency.
WALKONTHEWILDSIDE ran on well when third over 2000m on the turf last time. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and merits healthy respect.
SPLICETHEMAINBRACE showed guts and determination when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Bavish Soodoo which will assist her cause. She is unbeaten from three starts on this course and will be looking to keep that record intact.
RACE 4
BRETTY ran a decent race when third over this C&D last time. She lost a length leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Horizon jumps from pole position and if getting away on terms, she can notch up her third-career victory.
PRESERVE FOREVER stayed on when third over 2000m last time. She finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate outing. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
CHRONICLESOFNANIA was running on when fourth over 1400m on the turf last time. She takes a slight drop in class and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, she should run another honest race.
RACE 5
ANATOLIAN SILVER has raced in features in his last two starts. The son of Futura will love the rise to 1900m and Chad Little steps back into the saddle. He takes a drop in class and on best form shown, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
RICHARDTHEFEARLESS won a good race over 2000m on this course last time. He took the lead at the 700m mark and kept finding all the way to the line. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
WAZ WOUTER finished 3.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 6
SWEET JULIA finished strongly when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The obvious concern is her big mass of 62.5kgs. However, she is an honest individual and can notch up her third-career victory.
JET SET RUN took on stronger company over 1200m last time. She finished 4.35 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
WORLD PHAROAH finished behind subsequent winner United Nation, over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. He is having his first run for Kelly Mitchley and with luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 7
BUFFALO BILL is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He moved up well over 1200m on the turf last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Virgin River. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody should have no issues with the rise to 1400m. He tries the polytrack for the first time and if suited, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
AVERNIAN GODDESS was an easy winner of her last start over 1200m on this course. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LAGUNA VERDE fought hard for his last victory over 1600m on this course. The fitting of the cheekpieces has done the trick. He jumps from a good draw of three and merits healthy respect.
RACE 8
WILD FIG cost himself winning last time as he hung inwards in the final 300m. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Fire Away won his maiden over this C&D. If Richard Fourie is able to keep him on a straight line, he may be the one to beat.
BURNING MAN showed good improvement in his first start for the Juan Nel stable. He was running over 1200m on this course. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should pose a threat.
DAS GUTE was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance on the turf. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Jacey Botes which will assist his cause. He is at his best on the turf, but is in a good space and cannot be discounted
