Race 1
PLACE OF PRACTICE made the expected natural improvement when second over 1000m on the polytrack. The son of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and can go one better.
SON OF RAFEEF was a tad disappointing over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He gets the cheekpieces fitted which should sharpen him up. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
QUARTER MASTER showed good improvement when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. He is coming along the right way and should be involved at the finish.
Race 2
This is a weak Open Maiden for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is FLEUR DE LING from the Michael Roberts stable. Her last two starts after an 11-week break were decent. She is a progressive individual and in this field, she can shed her maiden tag.
SAUDI SWEEP ran a good race when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
TIPPERARY ran a decent race when third in her first start for the Tienie Prinsloo stable. She drops to 1200m and the blinkers should sharpen her up. Callan Murray retains the ride, and she should have a say.
Race 3
CHRISTMAS CACTUS has caught the eye in both efforts to date. He lost a length leaving the start over 1400m last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Danon Platina will love the rise to 1600m and can shed his maiden tag.
DAY TWO showed good improvement when fourth over this distance on the polytrack last time. The son of Twice Over is a progressive type and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
BOURBON’S BEAST raced from a handy position over 1400m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Greatest Hit. He tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
RAFA’S BOY has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the form of his last race has been franked. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from nine starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding may be the one to side with.
SMORGASBORD was running on when fourth over 1200m on this course last time. He has won over this trip previously. Deryl Daniels retains the ride and he is one of the leading contenders.
FATE OF FORTUNE is a winner of his last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in his last outing has come out and won since. He takes on stronger, but is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 5
ELEGANTRIX set the pace over 1400m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of One Eye On Vegas. The daughter of Vercingetorix won a Grade 3 over this C&D as a juvenile. She has class about her and can return to winning ways.
CONVOCATION has good recent form lines to her credit. She finished 1.2 lengths behind MISS LADYATERIX, three runs ago. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
MISS LADYATERIX stayed on when third over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She will strip much fitter and returns to her favourite course. The daughter of Vercingetorix merits healthy respect.
Race 6
MAJOR TOMMIE was an easy winner of his last start over 1100m on the polytrack. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. Callan Murray is booked to ride, and he can follow up with another victory.
WILD JUSTICE stayed on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. The son of Vercingetorix has ability and S’manga Khumalo returns to the saddle. If not in need of the run, he should be involved at the finish.
LICENCE TO THRILL is better than his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. All six of his career victories have come over this C&D. The 10-week break may have done him the world of good and he cannot be discounted. F

AYUWI YUWI showed some signs of a form return when fourth over 1000m on the polytrack last time. She jumped outwards leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. Both her career victories have come on this course. She drops back in class and may be the one to beat.
LIGHT OF GABRIEL has produced two good runs since winning her maiden over 1400m on the polytrack. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is a consistent individual and merits healthy respect.
WINTER RAINFALL was running on when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. She is back against her own sex and despite her big mass of 62kgs, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 8
LITTLEBLACKGEM stayed on at the finish over this distance on the polytrack last time. She finished 1.9 lengths behind DAWN SURPRISE in her penultimate outing. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of New Predator will be mowing down the frontrunners.
DAWN SURPRISE has good recent form lines to her name. She has won twice, finished second three times and third once from 10 starts over this C&D. The daughter of Elusive Fort merits healthy respect.
QUENTASIA was caught late when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. She finished 4.1 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
