Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Thursday 16th October where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
MME HUNTRESS produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. She showed speed and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Vercingetorix was reported to be distressed after the race. She would have gained from the experience and the drop to 1000m may suit her well. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
MASTER‘S LADY found one too good in the form of On The Run last time. She returns from an 11-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
AMAZONIAN made the natural improvement when fourth over this distance on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is a progressive type and may have more to come.
Race 2
TRAJANUS is the best bet on the programme. He has finished second in all three runs to date. He showed speed over 1200m at the Vaal last time but was caught late by Miami Mountain who has come out and won again since. The son of Danon Platina drops to 1000m and from his good draw of three, he should take a power of beating.
HAMMER BLOW produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
SEED SEEKER has finished fourth in his last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He has been gelded which may have done the trick.
Race 3
ONETWOBUCKLEMYSHOE produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1450m on this course. She challenged strongly but found one too good in the form of Ringa Ringa Roses. The well-related daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to the mile and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
WAR SUMMIT stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He may be at his best on a longer straight but has scope, and is one of the leading contenders.
RED SUNRISE was in need of his debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. It must be noted that Miami Mountain has come out and won again since. The son of Erik The Red would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.
Race 4
SARAGOSSA CAT made the expected natural improvement and justified favouritism when winning her maiden over this C&D last time. The daughter of Hurricane Cat takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
BLUSHING BLOOM is the stable companion of the top choice. She followed up her maiden win with a second-place finish over this C&D. The daughter of Flower Alley merits healthy respect.
WHIRLYBIRD stayed on when fifth over this distance at the Vaal last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. Calvin Habib takes the ride and she should be the first older horse past the post.
Race 5
COUNT HUHTIKUU won a good race over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position, showed a good turn of foot and won easier than the official margin suggests. The son of Royal Mo carries a handy galloping weight of 52kgs and he can follow up with another victory.
POTBERRIE won his last start over 1400m at the Vaal. He raced from a handy position and drew away from the opposition. The son of Potala Palace is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of two and may be hard to peg back.
GREETING MY MASTER is better than his comeback run in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. There should be good improvement to come from him.
Race 6
SOHO HEARTTHROB fought hard when touched off in his seasonal debut over 1400m at the Vaal. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the outing. He jumps from a good draw of two and can go one better.
PLAYER stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has cracked a good draw of four and is one of the leading contenders.
OBSIDIAN is a winner of his last three starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in his last outing has come out and won since. He is ideally suited to this C&D and merits healthy respect.
Race 7
MICHAEL FARADAY was an easy winner of his last start over 1700m on the Vaal Classic course. He raced from a handy position and quickened away from the opposition. The 6yo gelding should have no issues with the drop to 1450m. He is in a good space and with Nathan Klink retaining the ride, he can follow up with another victory.
SUNSHINE DAY stayed on when third over 1400m at the Vaal last time. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. With luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
MATTIAZO is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back
