Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday 7th October where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
There are eight unraced runners in this opening contest and is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connections believe they can win first time out. Of the raced runners, SNOW SNIPER could prove to be the best. He has only had two runs, finishing sixth on debut and then showing the expected natural improvement to end up in second place next time out.
REDFORD started odds-on favourite when only managing to fill third place behind Bachata. He is drawn wide in gate eleven, but he will be looking for a better showing here.
ABOVE THE LAW is a Legislate colt from the Justin Snaith yard with Richard Fourie in the saddle. From pole position, he can start his career on a positive note.
Race 2
As with the previous race, there are several unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. MISS ARIZONA has finished second in her last two starts, both over this C&D, the latest 1L behind the winner. She jumped awkwardly on that occasion, but finished off her race well. From gate six and with Richard Fourie up, she could go one better today.
JANE AUSTEN showed improvement to finish third in her latest outing over this C&D, 3.25L back from the winner, and if she has continued down the same path of improvement, she should be right up there when they hit the line.
SPICY FUTURE is a Futura filly from the Lucinda Woodruff yard with Keagan de Melo in the saddle.
Race 3
TEQUILA TANGO has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when runner-up over this C&D. 1.25L behind the victor, this despite hanging inwards at the 250m. He faces a wide draw ten, but he should use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.
LANTERN JACK finished fourth on debut over this C&D, and would have gained from the experience. From his kinder draw four, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.
SOTA STAR raced green when finishing sixth on debut, 5.4L back from the winner. He too would have come on from the outing and can show natural improvement.
Race 4
DESERT ICE showed solid improvement when finishing second in her latest over 1400m, just 0.5L back from the winner. She is drawn wideish in gate seven, but gets Keagan de Melo in the irons so she will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
WILD WEATHER is drawn one inside the former and had to be held up at the 150m last time, so she had her excuse. With better luck in running, her stable will be looking for improvement here.
PARADIGM SHIFT showed pace when finishing eighth on debut over this C&D, 5.85L back from the winner. She will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but she is speedy and should be able to work her way across without too much effort.
Race 5
RICH MAN‘S WORLD returns from a 20-week rest, but he is a top-class sort and only tasted defeat once in the Grade 1 Golden Medallion at Scottsville when just failing by 0.3L over 1200m. He was bumped at the start that day, so he was a tad unlucky. He retains the services of Richard Fourie and whilst he no doubt has bigger races to contend, he should easily put this race to bed.
BEWARE has consistent form lines to his credit finishing third last time over this C&D, 0.55L back from the winner. He has pulled pole position and should turn in another honest performance here, notwithstanding returning from a 13-week rest.
HERO‘S JOURNEY found one better in the Grade 3 Langerman last time. He is the stable companion of the top pick, drops in distance and makes a solid back-up for the yard.
Race 6
VIVO PER LEI is taken to lead the field home. She has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when third over this C&D, 1.25L behind the winner. She made good late progress that day and from her cozy draw four, she can earn her second career win.
VIRIDIAN RUBY has only had the two runs to date, finishing third on debut and then showing the expected improvement to win by a head. She showed plenty of pace on that occasion and although drawn widest in barrier ten, she should be viewed as a big runner here.
SHIFTING PATH is a seven-time winner who delivered a well- timed effort to win his last start over this C&D by 0.4L. He jumps from a handy draw three and gets the services of a 1.5kgs claiming apprentice.
Race 7
BETTER MAN battled all the way down to the wire when finishing seventh last time out over 1600m, 1.45L behind the winner. He will have to deal with a wideish gate seven, but it is encouraging that Keagan De Melo retains the ride.
POMP IT UP finished strongly from some way back when ending up in second place last time out over 1400m, one and a half lengths off the winner, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking.
BLIND DATE goes for his hat-trick after two victories over 1600m, the latest by 0.4L. He returns from a 15 week rest, but the trio is very much on the cards.
RACE 8
YOU MADE ME LOOK has finished third in his last two starts and stayed on well when ending up two lengths behind the winner last time out over this C&D, this despite suffering from breathing issues. The gelding has pulled a handy draw four and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie has stuck with the ride.
CAPTAIN‘S ANGEL put his disappointing penultimate start over 1500m behind him when finishing fourth next time out over 1600m, one length back from the winner. He tried to go from gun to tape on that occasion and he is likely to try to do the same here. The gelding gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he should be a big runner here.
LA SPLENDIDA has only had two runs to date and was only run out of it late when finishing fourth in his latest start over 1400m, 3.2L behind the winner. That was a solid improvement on his debut effort and whilst drawn wide in gate eleven, he should be respected
