RACE 1
STEAL THE SCENE is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie aboard. She is related to multiple winners including Born To Perform and Step Lively. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win this contest. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
CHIM CHIM CHEREE has shown improvement in her last two starts. She should have finished closer last time as she hung inwards in the final 400m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is a progressive type and should be the first raced runner past the post.
SILVER ARROW was disappointing in his last start over 1200m on the polytrack. He returns from a 12-week break. He may enjoy racing on the turf and on the form of his debut run, he can feature.
RACE 2
Trainer Alan Greeff holds a strong hand in this contest and can saddle the first three past the post. GOLDEN PALM stayed on when fifth over 1200m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Master Of My Fate won her only attempt over this C&D. She is having her peak run and if keeping on a straight line, she can return to winning ways.
WISHES AND DREAMS finished strongly when winning her last start over 1600m on the polytrack. She has won once and finished second once from three starts on this course. Callan Murray retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
ENCHANTING CHOICE is better than her last start in the Listed TAB Casino Algoa Cup as she was reported to be not striding out. She is ideally suited to this C&D and on best form shown, she should have a say.
RACE 3
POWDER DAY produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on the polytrack. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she understandably raced green. The daughter of Real Gone Kid would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she can go one better.
HOT BLOODED‘S last start is best ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. His effort when second over this C&D, three runs ago catches the eye. On the form of that outing, he should pose a threat.
KEYBOARD WARRIOR is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Dean Smith stable with Gareth Wright in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including No Filter and Instaworthy. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
RACE 4
U S RANGER showed good speed when winning his last start over 1000m on the polytrack. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this distance. The son of Act Of War has class about him and can notch up his fifth-career victory.
FAIRY KNIGHT was not disgraced when fourth in the Non- Black Type Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Poly Challenge 1600. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this C&D. He is a solid back-up for the Alan Greeff stable.
CLIFF TOP finished 5.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough to turn the form around.
RACE 5
KWAGGA BLITZ has produced three good runs in the Eastern Cape. He was slow into stride over this distance on the polytrack last time, but was running on to finish third. He finished second over this C&D, three runs ago. The son of Captain Of All is in a good space and may be the one to side with.
OLAF THE STOUT followed up his maiden win with a creditable fourth-place finish. He returns from a 22- week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Erik The Red has scope and if fit, he should pose a threat.
THE WINTER LAKE finished 1.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
RACE 6
VOLARE E MAMBO tried hard when third over 1600m on the polytrack last time. She finished 2 lengths behind GREEK HEIRESS in her penultimate effort. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this C&D. She is having her peak run and can notch up her third-career victory.
GREEK HEIRESS was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on the polytrack. She is at her best over 1600m, but is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
FIERY COUNTESS stayed on when fifth over 1600m on the polytrack last time. She takes a drop back in class and would not be a surprise winner.
RACE 7
SILENT TRIGGER has fair recent form to his name. He finished 0.6 lengths behind GREEN PLANET, three runs ago. He is 5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough to turn the form around. Apprentice Girish Dookhit takes the 2.5kgs off his back and with luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
GREEN PLANET has finished second in his last two starts. He would have come on from his last effort and should strip fitter. From his good draw of three, he merits healthy respect.
CHEERFUL CHARLIE B is much better than his last start on the polytrack. He will love the return to the turf track. On his best turf form, he should go close to winning.
RACE 8
TOUCH THE SWORD was unlucky not to have won her last start over 1400m on the polytrack. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She returns from a 13-week break which would have done her the world of good. If fit, she can close off the meeting.
HECUBA produced an encouraging debut effort over 1200m on the polytrack. She was slow into stride but stayed on to finish fourth. The daughter of Malmoos would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.
WEEKEND IN ASPEN found one too good in the form of Trickle Charge last time. The daughter of Futura may be ideally suited to the turf course and with luck from the widest draw, she should be competitive
