IRISH WILMA was reported to be fatigued in both her efforts to date. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She is a filly with scope and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
SAN FRANCISCO is an unraced daughter of Erupt from the Shaylen Naidoo stable and Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson takes the 2.5kgs off her back. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
Race 2
LADY HARLEQUIN produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She took time to find her feet but stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of What A Winter would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
MOLTEN ROCK was in need of her debut effort over this C&D. The daughter of Erupt would have gained from the experience and she can show good improvement.
USHOULDBEDANCING is an unraced daughter of Pathfork from the Robyn Klaasen stable with Kyle Strydom in the saddle. She is related to eight- time winner Three To Tango. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
Race 3
SABALENKA produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. She raced from just off the pace, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Viking Lass. The daughter of Erik The Red would have gained from the experience. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can go one better.
PERIODIC TABLE is an unraced son of Danon Platina from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Weather Wizard. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
ARIZONA MAGIC has improved in his last three starts with blinkers. He found one too good in the form of Dante’s Bond last time. With experience on his side, he can earn another cheque.
Race 4
RUBY WHISPER should have finished closer to the winner last time. She ran a cracker when third in the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes in her penultimate outing. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and with luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag.
DESTINY’S DREAM returns from a 17-week break and is having her first run for Trainer Alec Laird. The daughter of Master Of My Fate may enjoy the drop in distance. If not in need of the run, she can pose a threat.
DRACHENFUTTER finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
BAY EMPIRE was outrun late when second over this C&D last time. The son of Fire Away drops back in class and if this run has not come too soon, he can go one better.
SOUTHAMPTON finished 0.5 lengths behind MICHAEL FARADAY last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
MICHAEL FARADAY lacked extra late over 1450m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that Kambati has come out and won again since. He has cracked a handy draw of five and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
MIAMI MOUNTAIN was his own worst enemy over 1400m last time as he over raced in the early stages. He won a good race in the Grade 3 TAB National Currency Sprint in his penultimate outing. The blinkers are re-fitted as he drops back to 1100m. If not too far out of his ground, he may be the one to beat.
UMZINGELI WENYATHI tired late when fifth over 1160m on this course last time. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and on best form shown, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
CHARMING CHEETAH finished 1 length behind ZALATORIS last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 7
RAFA BAY is better than his last start over 1160m. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Rafeef is likely to race on the speed and may be the one to beat.
CHAPBOOK is better than his last start in the Grade 3 TAB National Currency Sprint. The son of Rafeef is unbeaten from two starts over this distance and will be looking to keep that record intact.
CHIEFTAIN is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Lebelo Sprint. He returns from a 15-week break which may have done him the world of good. On best form shown, he would not be a shock winner.
Race 8
PLUS FOUR stayed on when fifth over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The son of Vercingetorix won his only attempt over this C&D. He drops back in class and can return to winning ways.
TWENTYTWENTYVISION finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. The son of Royal Mo would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.
PIVOTAL ROLE showed speed when winning his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He takes a rise in class but has plenty of scope, and cannot be ignored.
Race 9
THERE SHE GOES took on stronger company in her last start over this distance at the Vaal. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of Time Thief drops in class and gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Girsh Samo-Burthia. On best form shown, she should give the males a run for their money.
WAITING ON CHARLIE showed speed when second over 1160m on this course last time. If confirming her recent improvement, she should pose a massive threat.
SERGEANT SOQRAT showed speed when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Jacey Botes which will assist his cause. The son of Soqrat has scope and should give a good account of himself
