Update, meting abandoned due to rain. Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Tuesday 14th April where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge

Race 1

NORTHUMBERLAND produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He took time to find his feet, but stayed on at the business end. The son of Visionaire would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

RAPTOR KING is an unraced son of New Predator from the Joe Soma stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Luna Wish and Legal Counsel. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

SANDS OF VALHALLA is a son of Erik The Red from the Tony Peter yard with Kyle Strydom doing duty. He is related to multiple winners including Cumbre Vieja and Ampersand. If not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

ALICE B TOKLAS caught the eye when third on debut over this C&D. She lost two lengths leaving the start, but finished off her race strongly. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience. Malesela Katjedi retains the ride and with the natural improvement expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

PLATINUM SHAY finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

STORM AVALANCHE is an unraced daughter of Rafeef from the Sean Tarry stable with Keagan de Melo in the irons. If not in need of the outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 3

ASIAH’S TIARA stayed on at the finish over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Terrence. She has finished second twice from three starts on this course. She is a battling maiden but in this small field, she may be the one to side with.

ROYALE JACKET raced from a handy position over 1700m last time, but found one too good in the form of Sand Script. The son of Ideal World is still a maiden after 20 starts but cannot be discounted.

POMPEII SHIELD was his own worst enemy last time as he over raced in the early stages and did not go on with the effort. The son of William Longsword steps up to 1800m and if switching off early, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 4

STORM BALLET’S last three starts have been fair. She stayed on when third over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1800m. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

GIMMESUMLUV stayed on when third over 1700m at the Vaal last time. She finished 4 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

COOL REGGAE tried hard when second over 2000m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Future Gamble. If repeating that effort in this field, she should be involved at the finish.

Race 5

DAMOVA won a good race over this distance at Turffontein last time. After a slow start, she raced from a handy position before drawing off in the closing stages. The 7yo mare is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. Mickaelle Michel retains the ride and the combination can follow up with another victory.

ONE MORE STAR finished 1.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

BATTLEGROUND is better than his last start in the Listed WSB Aquanaut Handicap. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson which will assist his cause. On previous form, he should be competitive.

Race 6

KING HARALD was his own worst enemy over 1700m last time as he over raced in the early stages. He won a good race in his penultimate start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. He should have no issues with the drop to 1400m and if putting his best foot forward, he may be the one to beat.

GOLDEN OPERATOR was an easy winner of his last start over 1450m on the Classic course. He finished 1.95 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate outing. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

WILD INTENT was not disgraced in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup last time. He returns from a 19-week break which would have done him the world of good. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is at his best over further, but he loves racing on this course and is the best- weighted runner.

Race 7

RACHEL WALL is the top bet on the programme. She was running on when third over 1160m at Turffontein, in the Grade 3 WSB Sycamore Sprint last time. The daughter of Buffalo Bill Cody won her only attempt over this C&D. She will strip much fitter and is the horse to beat.

CALANTHA is much better than her last start when 6.45 lengths behind the top choice. She has finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Querari gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.

GREEN FLASH has decent form lines to her name. She returns from a 14- week break which may have done her the world of good. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight races well fresh and she cannot be discounted.

Race 8

MISS NOVAX has decent recent form lines to her name. She lost a length leaving the start and stayed on to finish third last time. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. She drops back in class and if getting away on terms, she can notch up her second-career victory.

CAROLINE ISLAND has consistent form lines to her credit. She steps up to 1200m for the first time and the blinkers have been removed. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LOVABLE found one too good in the form of Mrs Stormiatrix last time. Keagan de Melo was victorious aboard the daughter of Rafeef, three runs ago. She is a filly with scope and must be considered
