Race 1
PERIODIC TABLE has finished second in both his efforts to date. He showed speed in a work riders race last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Hammer Blow. The son of Danon Platina is a progressive type and with Keagan de Melo back in the saddle, he can go one better.
NIGHTSHINE found one too good in the form of World Attraction last time. He returns from a 17-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He will enjoy the step up to 1200m and is one of the leading contenders.
TIME HONORED produced a good first run for the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. Callan Murray rides and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 2
STAR MAGNOLIA showed improvement when third over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She gets the ear muffs fitted for the first time. The daughter of Danon Platina is a progressive type and despite taking on older, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
MISS RIVER DANCER ran a good race when fourth over this distance at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Summa Cum Laude gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. If repeating her last effort, she should pose a threat.
ARTIFACT finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. She should have finished closer that day as she was baulked for running room from the 300m mark to the 200m mark. With luck in running, she should be competitive.
Race 3
COVER CHARGE ran a fair race over 1450m on this course last time. The son of Erik The Red returns from a 12-week break and has been gelded. Mickaelle Michel takes the 1.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He is carded to race on 28 May 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
WINDING POWER was outrun when second over 1700m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson which will assist his cause. He is carded to race on 28 May 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be followed.
MASTER BUDDY finished 0.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 4
LATE BLOOMER returns from a 20-week break and is having her first outing for the Tony Peter stable. Her penultimate run when fourth to Whirlwind was encouraging. The daughter of Querari has scope and if settled into her new surroundings, there may be good improvement to come from her.
GIMMESUMLUV is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. The cheekpieces remain fitted and on the form of her penultimate run, she should pose a threat.
TREX ON FIRE produced an encouraging debut effort over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course in a work riders race. The daughter of Captain Of All would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should go close.
Race 5
ROBERT BROWNING was not disgraced when fourth behind Errol Flynn last time. He finished third over this C&D, three runs ago. The son of Canford Cliffs should get a good run in transit from pole position. Calvin Habib may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
THE PLAYBOY BOMBER finished 1.45 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. KUDZU is a winner of his last two starts. He received a four-pound penalty for his last victory. Keagan de Melo is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the widest draw, and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 6
UNSOLVED RIDDLE took on stronger company in his last start over 1400m at the Vaal. He stayed on at the business end that day. The son of Futura won his only attempt over this C&D. He takes a drop back in class and with 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson in the saddle, he can return to winning ways.
UBERMENSCH stayed on when third over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He won his maiden over this C&D. From his good draw of two, he should pose a threat.
SPACE MISSION is the stable companion of the second selection. He was running on when second over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
THAT’S MY BABY ran a good race when second over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She has cracked a good draw of two and can notch up her fifth-career victory.
WARNING SOUND stayed on when fourth over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is a solid back up for the Sean Tarry stable.
WARM RECEPTION finished 3.2 lengths behind the second selection in her penultimate run. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 8
WINDS OF GRACE has good consistent form to her credit. She jumped inwards leaving the start over 1600m on the Standside course last time, but stayed on to finish fourth. She has finished second three times and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Keagan de Melo does duty and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
LADY ELLIOT is better than her last start as she did not act in the going. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. She is drawn in pole position and can feature on best form.
FISH HAWK has taken on stronger company in her last two starts. She drops in class and with luck in running, she can cause a surprise
