Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Thursday 9th July where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
MAGIC DECLARATION took time to find his feet on debut over 1200m on this course, but the manner in which he finished off his race caught the eye. The son of Declarationofpeace would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1450m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
TWO TIGERS ran a fair race on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. He finished second in his penultimate effort over 1200m on this course. He jumps from a handy draw of five and is one of the leading contenders.
MEGA AWESOME returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. He is a horse with scope and can improve to finish in the placings.
Race 2
KNOCKIN’ BOOTS showed improvement when third over 1400m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Hawwaam is a progressive type and has plenty of scope. With a bit of luck in running, she should have more to come.
NICOLSON LANDING ran on from far back when second over 1400m on the Standside course last time. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should fight out the finish.
DESTINY’S DREAM is the stable companion of the top choice. The obvious concern is the widest draw. With a bit of luck in running, she can earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 3
CORRUPT won a game race over 2400m on the Standside course last time. He raced from a handy position and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. He is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.
BATTLEGROUND finished 4.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
REPETITION showed a good turn of foot when winning his last start over 2400m at the Vaal. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the son of Twice Over. He received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. He does take on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and merits obvious consideration.
Race 4
KISSING MACHINE was not beaten far in the Grade 3 Lucky Fish Winter Fillies Stakes last time. She has won three times and finished second once from five starts on this course. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is back on the Highveld and with her handy galloping mass of 54kgs, she can upset.
SCARLET O’HARA is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1700m at the Vaal. She is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. The daughter of Red Ray is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
PALACE DANCER’S last two starts have been good. She would have come on from her last outing and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck in running, she should be competitive.
Race 5
ANCIENT WISDOM stayed on after a slow start over 1700m at the Vaal last time. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Ideal World won her only attempt over this C&D. If getting away on terms, she can notch up her third career victory.
SIKELOI raced from a handy position over 1600m last time, moved up well before getting caught late by Top Shelf Teddy. The booking of Gavin Lerena is a big plus and she should fight out the finish.
ART NOUVEAU took on male company in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. On the form of her penultimate outing, she should feature.
Race 6
THAT’S MY BABY has consistent form to her credit. She was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 2 HKJC World Pool Tibouchina Stakes last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is back on the Highveld and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.
PALACE PRINCE should have finished closer to the winner in the Non-Black Type KZN Breeders Mile last time. He won his only attempt on this course. With luck in running, he should be the first male past the post.
WAYNE was touched off in his last start over 1400m at the Vaal. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick on the son of Vercingetorix. If getting away on terms, he can go close.
Race 7
MANYELETI returns from a 28-week break which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of Danon Platina is lightly raced with good form to her credit. She has plenty of class but can be temperamental. If she doesn’t do too much prior to the race, she should be hard to peg back.
VERSACE ONTHETRACK tired late when fourth over 1160m on the Standside course last time. She has won twice and finished second once from six starts over this distance. On best form shown, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
TEMPRANILLO was touched off in her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that Kia Kaha has come out and won again since. She will strip much fitter and merits healthy respect.
Race 8
QUIET WINTER ran on strongly when third over 1160m on the Standside course last time. The daughter of What A Winter takes a drop in class and returns to the 1000m. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she can notch up her second-career victory.
POWER OF PEARLS followed up her maiden win with a good third- place finish over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
STAGGERWING was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. The daughter of Rafeef takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand
