Argentina:
Argentina lost 67-30 to South Africa in Durban in Round 5 and are no longer in contention for the title. They are bottom of the standings with 9 points, 2 shy of Australia, 5 adrift of New Zealand and 6 behind the Boks.
Los Pumas were given around 15.5 points start at Kings Park and at half time there was only 2 points in it as the Boks led 25-23. However they went on to ship 9 tries in total as South Africa ran riot in the second 40 minutes. Chocobares and Albornoz scored 5 pointers and Argentina were also awarded a penalty try.
In Round 4 Argentina held on for a 28-26 victory over the Wallabies in Sydney whilst their first clash with Australia in Townsville saw them concede a try well after the siren to go down 28-24. .
In the early rounds Argentina hosted the All Blacks twice. In Cordoba in Round 1 they slipped to a 41-24 defeat but Round 2 was a different story as Argentina made history, beating the All Blacks 29-23 in Buenos Aires, their first ever home win over the New Zealanders.
South Africa:
The Springboks 67-30 win over Argentina in Durban saw them take control of the race to land the title. They are 1 point clear of New Zealand and 4 better off than Australia and given those 2 sides clash in Perth earlier on Saturday South Africa will have knowledge of what is required to be crowned champions. South Africa are now 2/9 favourites with Hollywoodbets to win the tournament.
Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu was responsible for 37 of the Boks 67 points against Los Pumas at Kings Park with 3 tries, 8 conversions and 2 pens. Other tries came from Marx, Kolbe, Van den Berg, Libbok and a brace from Pieter-Steph du Toit.
In Round 4 an awesome second half performance saw South Africa inflict a record margin home defeat on the All Blacksin Wellington. The Boks ran in 6 tries in total, 5 of which came in the second 40 minutes as they turned a 10-7 half time deficit into an emphatic 43-10 victory. That outcome was in some contrast to a 24-17 Round 3 defeat to New Zealand in Auckland.
South Africa hosted Australia in the first 2 rounds of this tournament. In Round 1 in Johannesburg they they came unstuck as the Wallabies put in a sterling second half display to come back from 22-0 down early on to win 38-22. In Cape Town in Round 2 the Boks came out on top 30-22.
