New Zealand:

After winning both their matches with bonus points the All Blacks have the maximum 10 log points and they are second to South Africa who have also made a perfect start. The chasers are led by Argentina who are 4 points adrift.

The All Blacks put Italy away 47-17 in Wellington in Round 2. They needed 30 minutes to get in front on the scoreboard and it was only 14-10 at half time but the second half was a largely one sided contest and with Italy reduced to 14 men after the break New Zealand finished with 7 tries including a hat trick for Will Jordan.

The All Blacks took on France in the very first Nations Championship match in Christchurch in Round 1. France went ahead with a try in the second minute and it turned into a thrilling battle with New Zealand, who led 19-12 at half time eventually edging it 34-32, scoring 5 tries to 4 in Dave Rennie’s first game in charge. Cam Roigard and Will Jordan both scored 2 tries a piece and Peter Lakai also went over.

Ireland took on Japan at a neutral venue in Australia in Round 2 and they came out on top 36-20. Four players were handed a debut in a much changed side who had to work hard but from 19-13 up at half time they more than maintained their advantage. Tries from Timoney, O’Toole, Henshaw, Jansen and Stewart earned another bonus point win.

In the opening round in Australia in Sydney Ireland edged a thriller 33-31. Tom Clarkson’s try at the death sealed the win after earlier scores from Prendergast, Van der Flier, Gibson-Park and Keenan.
