BELL OF ANGELUS produced a promising debut effort over 900m on this course. She showed good speed and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Rabada would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

COMIC RELIEF is the stable companion of the top choice. She is an unraced daughter of Querari with stable jockey Tristan Godden in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, she should be competitive. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

MALSHANA MOU is a daughter of Vercingetorix from the Tienie Prinsloo stable with Rachel Venniker taking the 1.5kgs off her back. She is related to three-time winner Vandah’s Spirit. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 2

HOLDS THE KEY went too fast in his last start over 900m and was caught in the shadow of the post by Captains Envy. The son of What A Winter is a progressive type and if ridden with a bit of restraint in the early stages over the extra 100m, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

LARIUS LACUS is an unraced son of Querari from the Mike Miller stable with Mathew Thackeray in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Tout A Fait and Hedwig. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

ATLANTIC BREEZE ran a creditable race on debut over 800m on this course. He would have come on from the outing and with the natural improvement that is expected, he would not be a shock winner.

Race 3

ARE YOU SURE had excuses in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She returns from a 12-week break which may have done her the world of good. Her first two starts on this course were encouraging. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Mxolisi Mbuto and if not in need of this outing, she may be the one to beat.

WINGS OF JOSEPHINE showed good improvement when second over 1000m on this course last time. 4kgs claiming apprentice Sifisokuhle Bungane retains the ride and if confirming her recent improvement, she should pose a threat.

RUBY RISING‘S last two starts have been fair. She returns from a 27-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, she can feature.

Race 4

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is MANY WATERS from the Doug Campbell stable. He returns from a 27-week break, during which time he was gelded. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he has scope to show good improvement in this field.

LIGHTNINGFORK produced a typical second run after a rest last time. He ran a fair race in his penultimate start over 1600m on the polytrack. He will be at peak fitness and would not be a shock winner in this line-up.

UNCLE LUCKY was disappointing in his last start over 1600m. His previous two outings were fair. He jumps from pole position and can show in this line-up. He is carded to race on 20 December 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

 

 

Race 5

SONATA SAMARITAN has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She raced from a handy position over 1200m last time and fought hard all the way to the line. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1600m. She is a progressive type and should be the one to beat.

NAUTICAL LANDING set the pace over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time before getting caught in the shadow of the post by Grand Occasion. She is having her first run on this course and if suited, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

TERMINAL VELOCITY rallied late when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She returns from another 12-week break and if fit, she should be involved at the finish.

Race 6

TERMINATOR followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He raced from a handy position and finished strongly. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If settled into his new surroundings, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

MISTER NIBBLES was running on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He drops back in class and is one of the leading contenders.

TEATIME TIPPLE‘S last three starts have been fair. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. The son of Var will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 7

GET IN THE Q set the pace over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She drops back in class and Calvin Habib may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

LUCRATIVE ran on from last over 1400m last time. She is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.

SHANTA‘S PRIDE is better than her last start as she raced wide around the turn and was reported to be not striding out. Her record on this course is a slight concern. However, on previous form, she cannot be ignored.

Race 8

HOPE IS POWER finished 0.05 lengths behind MAR DEL PLATA last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If apprentice Damyan Pillay is able to keep him on a straight line, he can go one better.

MAR DEL PLATA won a game race in his last start over 1200m on this course. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

JET LEGACY challenged strongly over 1000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Connery. He has won twice and finished third twice from five starts on this course. He is in a good space and cannot be left out
