Race 1
JUST NUISANCE raced wide around the turn over this C&D last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Flower Alley has cracked pole position this afternoon and can go one better.
RYANS BOULEVARD finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.
GREEN GARNET produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. He returns from a 14-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has plenty of scope and if not in need of the run, he should be competitive.
Race 2
ALESIA‘S LOVE showed good speed over 1200m on this course last time, but was caught late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Vercingetorix meets the right field this afternoon and she may be hard to peg back.
GIMME A NOTHER is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Mike de Kock stable with JP van der Merwe in the saddle. She is related to Sharapova who has won once and placed seven times from as many starts. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
ONE RELIGION is the stable companion of the top selection. She showed signs of needing her last start over 1200m on this course. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter.
Race 3
MRS GERIATRIX is unbeaten from five starts, the latest of which was over 1400m in the Grade 2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper. The Equus Champion Two-Year-Old filly returns from a well-deserved 14-week break. She is a class above the rest of this field and should keep her unbeaten record intact.
FRANCINE was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 Premiers Champion Stakes last time. The daughter of Silvano will be ideally suited to this distance. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
WHITE PEARL finished 5.45 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE moved up like a winner in the Grade 2 Durban Golden Horseshoe last time, but was outrun late by Sandringham Summit who has come out and won a Grade 1 since. He returns from a 14-week break which would have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, he should notch up his third career victory.
GUY GIBSON finished 1 length behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
BIOFARMER stayed on when second over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Tail Of The Comet. The son of Pomodoro looks to be above average and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
FEATHER BOA should have finished closer to the winner in the Grade 1 Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes last time as she was held up for a run at the 350m mark. The 14-week break would have done her the world of good. She won her only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
HUMDINGER was not disgraced in the Grade 1 Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes last time. She has won once and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. She is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and she may be hard to peg back
CAPTAIN PEG ran on from last when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D and merits obvious inclusion.
Race 6
MAIN DEFENDER raced from a handy position in the Grade 1 Premiers Champion Stakes last time, but found one too good in the form of Sandringham Summit. He returns from a well-deserved 10-week break which would have done him the world of good. The son of Pathfork takes on older rivals, but he carries a light weight of 50.5kgs and can win if fit.
READY TO CHARGE ran on strongly to win his last start over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will come into this race with fitness on his side and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
DAVE THE KING ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 The HKJC Champions Cup last time. He set the pace that day, but was outrun late. He is likely to race on the speed and should be the first older male past the post.
Race 7
SHELDON‘S last two starts have been good. He was caught late when second over 1200m on this course last time. He has won five times, finished second three times and third twice from 14 starts over this distance. He jumps from a good draw of three and should notch up his seventh career victory.
MOVER AND SHAKER finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
MERCANTOUR stayed on when fifth over 1500m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. His best form has been under Richard Fourie and he cannot be ignored.
Race 8
SEA ANEMONE stayed on when fourth over 1500m on this course last time. She is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. The daughter of Dynasty takes a slight drop-in class and from pole position, she should be too good for this field.
LET‘S GO NOW is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes. She was a winner of her previous two efforts. She would have strengthened up during her time off the track and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
MY SOUL MATE was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the Standside course. She does take on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 9
MONDIAL won a game race when shedding his maiden tag over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. He was slow into stride, but ran on strongly and got the better of HOUSE OF ROMANOV. The son of Flower Alley does take on stronger, but he is progressive and has plenty of scope. He will be at home over the 1800m and can follow up.
MO THE MAN has consistent form lines to his credit. He lost a length leaving the start last time, but finished his race off strongly. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
YOUCANTHURRYLOVE‘S last three starts under Denis Schwarz have been good. He finished third in both his efforts over this C&D. He is in a good space and must be included in all bets
