RACE 1
FINAL EDITION is having his first run for the Alan Greeff stable. He has been disappointing in his last two starts in the Western Cape. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He tries the tongue-tie and drops to the 1200m. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and on best form shown, he can shed his maiden tag.
SWISS WALT was a tad disappointing in his last start over this distance on the turf. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has finished third twice from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GREY SMOKE raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish second. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. He is in a good space and should be involved in the fight to the finish.
RACE 2
BEST INTENTIONS makes her local debut and is having her first run for the Gavin Smith stable. Her last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She shows pace in her races and if suited to the extra distance on offer, she should be hard to peg back.
SI GIOCA ran a decent race when third over this C&D last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and she is one of the leading contenders.
PITON DE NEIGE showed good improvement in her last start over 1000m on this course. She will be at home over this distance and if confirming her recent improvement, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 3
Trainer Gavin Smith holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. GLOBAL FORCE showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. The son of Global View returns to Handicap Company and with Luyolo Mxothwa retaining the ride, he can follow up.
TUSCAN GOLD was a tad disappointing over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is having his first run for the stable and if settled into his new surroundings, he should pose a threat.
PARIS RIX showed good signs of a form return over 1200m on this course last time. He should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew, he can feature.
RACE 4
LIFE ON MARS won a game race in his last start over 1200m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
EL ROMIACHI has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He was running on when third over this C&D last time. 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew retains the ride and he should fight out the finish.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN ran a good race when third over 1200m on this course last time. He finished 1.25 lengths behind TIMBAVATI RIVER, three runs ago. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
RACE 5
COLORAMA is much better than her last start suggests as the jockey reported something to be amiss. Her form prior to that outing was good. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from 12 starts on this course. She has cracked a good draw of three and can notch up her third career victory.
ANGELSEA was an easy winner of her last start over 1000m on this course. She should have no issues with the step up to 1300m. She is in a good space and can follow up.
UNITED EXPRESS showed good improvement in her last start over 1400m on this course. She lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. Kendall Minnie retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 6
GRAND DESTINY has decent recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on strongly when fourth over this C&D last time. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from nine starts over this C&D. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be rewarded for consistency.
EMPIRE BLUE is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing. His best form has been under Richard Fourie and he should pose a massive threat.
MOTHER OF PEARL showed some signs of a form return in her last start over this distance on the turf. She continues to drop in the ratings and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, she should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 7
BOURNEMOUTH is a winner of his last three starts. He quickened up well over 2400m on the turf last time and was geared down in the run down to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Canford Cliffs should take a power of beating.
QUASIMODO has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run and is one of the leading contenders.
PEACE IN OUR WORLD was running on when second over 1600m on this course last time. He will enjoy the step up in distance and must be included in all bets.
RACE 8
TRIP TO BARBERTON’S last three starts have been good. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Trippi. She is likely to race on the speed from her awkward draw and may be hard to peg back.
GOLD FOR AFRICA won a game race in her last start against male company. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. Eldin Webber retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.
OPERA SWING has finished second in her last two starts. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners
